I will continue fighting for policies that make California more affordable, including reducing taxes and fees. I am also working with law enforcement and first responders to improve public safety by reducing crime and fire-proofing communities. Third, I am working to reduce the cost of healthcare and ensure rural hospitals stay open.
I am the current State Senator. I have my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. I have been a teacher, non-profit executive, businesswoman, and farmer throughout my career. I am the founder/CEO of My First Farm Inc., a 501(c)3 organization that teaches interactive agricultural education to children. Previously, I was also an executive with Rocketship Public Schools and Charthouse Public Schools, advocating for charter schools in the Bay Area.
I support laws that reduce the regulatory burdens to building housing. We need to build more housing for middle and low income people to make owning a home in California affordable again. That means reforming CEQA, eliminating PLAs that mandate union-only construction, and issuing more permits that allow people to build on their own property, such as "granny flats."
As a former charter school executive, I continue to encourage school choice and parental involvement in their children's' education. I also encourage teaching financial literacy in schools as well as educational alternatives to college like trade schools. Every child is different so we shouldn't mandate a one-size-fits-all approach to our education system.
I focus my water policy on rural representation, fire resilience, and infrastructure improvements. My key initiatives include funding rural water systems for fire protection and exempting small water districts from costly metering mandates. Generally, I advocate for local control over top-down state water mandates. I have also supported funding for water delivery systems and drought relief.
