🏦County Supervisors hire County Executive Officer, Public Defender, County Counsel, Public Health Officer and Agriculture Commissioner; approve ordinances, projects, hiring and big contracts; appoint members to almost 50 county boards, commissions and committees; change zoning outside the cities; set budgets for all parts of county government, even those elected separately. The total budget is $3.7 billion, with 10,500 staff. The term is four years, and pay is $196,000/year. Two are elected this year. The other three were elected in 2024.
