I’m not a politician with an agenda. I’m a husband of 23 years, father of two beautiful daughters and a servant to this community that believes government should be common sense, respectful, and accountable. I ran on four simple promises - support schools and emergency services, common sense growth with paced infrastructure, low property taxes with responsible spending, and asking tough questions. I have delivered on each of these over the past 4 years and believe there is still more to accomplish in sustaining Sumner County as a great place to live, work and play.
Managing growth is a top priority. We responsibly manage growth through planning and partnerships with our cities. Our current comprehensive plan was adopted in the early 2000s, well before the explosive growth we are experiencing today. Our growth is also primarily centered within our cities and urban growth boundaries. Strong relationships with our cities will help ensure that decisions being made by one governing entity doesn’t have unknown or unanticipated impact on the other.

Volunteer Fire funding is another priority. VFDs provide an invaluable service to the community and offset additional costs the county doesn’t have to incur. These VFDs rely on donations and volunteer service to survive, both of which are becoming more scarce.
Budgeting comes down to determining needs over wants. Needs have to be prioritized and strategically aligned across all county funded services to ensure we are not overextending financial commitments or overburdening taxpayers with additional taxes or increases.

Commercial growth should be prioritized over residential growth. It’s a lower cost to serve for county services, plus there are additional taxes revenues generated that help lessen tax burden on individual property owners. A large percentage of Sumner County residents work outside of the county. Not only is the county not benefiting from the additional revenues that are generated from the business, but also the lost revenue from discretionary spending of its employees.
