VOTE411 Voter Guide

I'm running for County Commission because I want to raise the bar for our county's leadership and to make sure every voice is brought to the table. For too long in Sumner County, people have only had one voice to speak for them and it's time to change that.

The issues I'd like to focus on are Infrastructure, Emergency Services, and Public School support. As we experience continued growth, we need to build with that growth in mind. Large housing developments shouldn't be built on two lane roads. We need to make sure the infrastructure we have in place won't require constant construction upgrades to keep pace. Without the continued support of our volunteer emergency services, areas of the county will go without critical, life saving services. It's unacceptable for Sumner County to not support the safety of our citizens. Public schools are another area where we NEED funding support more than we do. In order for our communities to grow in a good way, we need to support our schools.

My priority with County budgeting will be to make sure the financial decisions we make are in the best interest of the people affected. I want to challenge spending on the things I don't think our citizens need and advocate for spending where I think it's important. I'm not afraid to ask clarifying questions or challenge budget items which I hope brings a certain amount of oversight to the commission.

I have been a good representative for the voters in District 8. I have supported education and voted for issues that make Sumner County a better place.

Education: Continuing to support improving our school system and providing the funds needed to make our district the best possible. Growth: We must maintain our present infrastructure and improve it. Working with our legislators to improve state roads and bridges while making sure that the county road department has the funds to maintain and improve its roads and bridges. Public Safety: Support our Sheriffs office and it's employees. Provide the funding for EMS, EMA, and volunteer fire departments

Education requires a majority of our budget. We need to provide to keep improving our schools. Public Safety: Keep our high quality law enforcement and emergency services funded properly. Technology: Improve technology for our county offices and departments in order to save time and money and provide better services for the citizens.
