State Senator – the office of state senator serves in the Montana legislature’s upper house. There are 50 senators who are elected from districts made up of two House districts. Senators are elected to 4-year terms which are staggered so that half are elected every two years. Senators propose and vote on proposed laws during the legislative sessions that meet for 90 days in odd-numbered years, and provide oversight of state agencies and study issues through interim committees that meet between sessions. Senators are limited to two consecutive 4-year terms.

I have spent much of my adult life in public opinion research. Working closely with electeds, I have a holistic understanding of governance and policy. As the parent of a special needs child, I know how important rural hospitals, with all that they have to offer are to communities.
1) the most important issue facing the Montana Senate in 2027 is protecting rural hospitals, and protecting the Medicaid Expansion from extremists.
2) the second most important issue is realigning our tax structure to protect working Montanans and make the more affluent bear their fair share of the expense of the state.
3) the third through fifth most important issues are:
a) funding primary and secondary education for our young people
b) protecting judicial independence from legislative and executive overreach exhibited in the previous legislative session and
c) protecting and enhancing post secondary educational spending to allow our students access to education which will prepare them for the jobs of today and the future.
We need to realign the taxation structure to provide relief for working families and the elderly on fixed incomes, while taxing those who can afford it more, particularly those with vacation and rental income.
We need to protect the Medicaid expansion, increase eligibility and work to provide other options for working men and women.
We don't have a problem with election security in Montana, we have 56 extremely effective and hard working county clerks who with their staffs ensure that elections are fair and free and well documents.
We need to provide every allowance for every eligible voter to cast their votes in the election.
We have two excellent ballot measures designed to reduce out of state influence on our elections. I support both ballot measures. In the legislature, I would work with other members to write stringent laws providing for transparency in political giving, fundraising and communications.
