My name is Tess Fahlgren and I live in Glasgow, Montana, the town where I was born and raised. I am a writer, teacher, and manager/designer with a small team that updates old buildings in downtown Glasgow. A GHS grad, I achieved a BA in English from the University of Montana and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota. I have a lifetime of experience with northeastern Montana, but don’t have the usual attitude of a rural Montana politician. I am pro-worker, anti-corporation, and fully support reproductive rights and the rights of our LGBT community. Since my first job at fourteen, I’ve been everything from a waitress to a public school teacher. I believe in thinking creatively to ensure a bountiful future for Montana.
Medicaid Expansion -- I will do everything I can to preserve Medicaid expansion and protect rural hospitals.

Data centers -- Corporate interests have no right to our land. I will vote for regulation that would keep data centers from spiking energy prices and using our precious water.

Right to Repair -- We should require corporations to provide resources so that vehicle, electronic, and machinery owners can repair their own property.

Taxes -- I would support efforts to raise taxes on millionaires and spread those funds to poorer communities.
Montana is not taking advantage of the massive influx of wealth that we’ve seen in the last decade. By adopting systems that put the tax burden on the extremely wealthy, Montana can distribute those funds to support the schools and small businesses of lower-income schools and communities.
Montana recently implemented a requirement for voters to write their birth year on their mail-in ballot envelope, resulting in thousands of votes that could not be counted. Between literally discounting individual votes and the enormous amount of money spent on elections by corporations, our voting rights are being attacked from every angle.

I would support the repeal of the birth-year rule and support The Montana Plan, an election initiative to end corporate spending in politics.
