Born 64 years ago, Metaline Falls WA, raised mostly in small towns. Journalism/TV/Radio major graduate. Moved to Great Falls 1983, moved away and back 3 times. It's home. On the air for decades in news, business advertising & sales, as a personality DJ and on radio morning shows heard by tens of thousands, my unique perspective as a public figure that has had the pulse of several generations of residents, it takes listening to be able to talk to the people truthfully so much it is the only way to represent the people - as the trusted voice for generations in Great Falls. My desire is for the people I represent to know my personally and know I am a phone call away to hear their issues to find solutions that benefit everyone.
We are all in the same boat, dealing with the costs of living going up. So, for the next legislature, my number one focus is making sure that the last tax hike shock from Helena is the last we ever endure and I will work to get them lower. NO ONE should be in fear of losing the home they own because they can't afford the taxes. Great Falls needs 6,500 affordable residences by 2035, with zoning and regulations that promote new housing with enough development loan funding. We need to increase not only teacher pay but retention. Child care needs to be an economic infrastructure solution for all. I will promote for more and better jobs in the medical and energy fields. And, I will always fight for veterans to get what we promised them.
It's hard to lower the poverty rate of just one city in one state, so let's talk policy for everyone. First, health care. The best solution is already working in other nations: Universal coverage, low out-of-pocket costs, and excellent medical outcomes. I want us all to be able to take our spouse or child to the ER without that fear of financial ruin. I've talked affordable housing before, promoting building for affordable monthly rent or payments. We need to give the new generation the ability, skills, and training, to be able to make a living from one good job, or start a business to hire others. Great Falls already has great programs for this, and as a legislator, I will promote these programs to grow our economy in Great Falls.
Great Falls elections have been almost problem free from the beginning, but the issues in recent years show we need to elect the best people to fill the elected offices to make sure our election integrity is as strong as ever. State government starts with the people, like Initiative 194. It's a measure to limit corporate political spending. This is a real Montana citizen-created solution to most of the hundreds of millions in untraceable dark money. I support that, but ultimately, Citizens United must be overturned to ensure no one person or entity can pour money into campaigns like an investment to line their own pockets.
