I was born in Browning, MT and raised on the Blackfeet Reservation. I am 65 years old. I retired from public service in 2022 following a successful 33 year career of federal service working for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (19 yrs) and for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (14 yrs). I am actively engaged in a family ranching operation located near the rural community of Heart Butte, MT. I earned a BS degree in Land Resources Sciences (1991), and a Master of Arts degree in Native American Studies with a minor in Mgnt & Public Admin (2003), both from Montana State University. I have years of experience and a skill set that I believe could be an asset to represent constituents in HD15.
The most pressing issue in Montana is providing access to quality health care services and fully utilizing federal funds from Medicaid. There are ~ 67 hospitals in Montana, with 48 of these being identified as MT Critical Access Hospitals. The majority of these hospital facilities are located in rural towns and communities across the state, employ medical personnel and local folks while providing access to crucial medical services and funds that influence & stabilize the local economies in rural communities. I am personally experiencing a $300/mn increase in my medical insurance cost in 2026, & an increase of $420/month for Medicare, adding $8,640 to my medical insurance premiums. This will result in a 212% increase in medical insurance
We need to serious evaluate the costs associated with health care including provider rates, hospital rates, cost associated with pharmaceuticals to determine the impact this is having upon medical insurance rates and the ability to provide continued access to health care at reasonable affordable rates.
Currently the regulations contained in "MCA 13-2-206 Citizenship requirements. (1) A person may not be permitted to register until the person attains United States citizenship." clearly identify the parameters under which eligible voters can register to cast their ballots. Much of the rhetoric we're seeing now is aimed at creating barriers to discourage eligible voters and women from registering/participating in the democratic process or by voting via absentee ballot. I'm in the process of reviewing the "Montana Plan" to determine how it will impact the influx of dark money on Montana's election process. We need to seriously consider/ implement campaign reform to reduce or eliminate the amount/sources of corporate $pending in MT!
