Filing County Los Alamos
Born and raised in Los Alamos, I bring over a decade of legal experience to the bench. I earned my J.D. from UNM and have practiced in NM since 2014. I spent seven years at the Law Offices of the Public Defender handling complex dockets. Now, I run a solo practice covering civil, criminal, and probate law. Appointed Los Alamos County Probate Judge in January 2024, my deep litigation background and active judicial service equip me to efficiently execute the duties of this office.
Empathy, patience, clarity, and legal rigor are vital for a Probate Judge. Probate Court is often a citizen's only interaction with the judicial system, usually following a loved one's passing. A judge must blend thorough legal knowledge with a deeply compassionate approach. Communicating statutory procedures clearly ensures grieving families feel respected and guided, not overwhelmed by jargon. Accessibility is also essential for the timely and proper administration of estates.
I have dedicated my career to advocating for people from all walks of life. During my seven years at the Law Offices of the Public Defender, I fought daily for indigent and marginalized clients facing severe crises. I also served as legal representative for the Drug Recovery Court, supporting individuals overcoming addiction. In my private practice and as Probate Judge, I remain committed to judicial accessibility, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity through the legal process.
