Magistrates are judges in limited jurisdiction courts. They hold the initial hearings in many types of serious criminal cases, and try criminal cases, including many first-time DUI/DWI and other misdemeanor cases which carry relatively less serious penalties. They also have jurisdiction over some types of civil cases (e.g., landlord/tenant and contracts) in which the amount sought is less than $10,000. Term: Four years; no term limits.

I have a degree is Criminal Justice and I am a Certified Legal Secretary. My twenty (20) years on the bench have given me institutional knowledge that allows me to train and/or quasi-mentor other newly elected Judges. I make all my decisions based on the law and deliver all my decisions and Judgments from the beach.
Security for employees and Judges has been at the top of the list. There are currently efforts in place to address and/or correct these ongoing issues. The second would be the high volume of cases that are handled. Sandoval County continues to grow and the amount of Judges and employees at the Magistrate Court should also increase in order to accommodate the increased caseloads.
Ever since the Pandemic, the Judiciary has implemented "new" procedures for handling cases that address optimizing and utilizing technology to have more virtual hearings so as to accommodate the general public and Attorneys. This allows them to appear for court and/or hearings via Google. By having these procedures in place it has been a plus for the Court, as well as the citizens; and also the Attorneys that have to appear for these settings. The new technology at first was difficult to get used to. But as time has passed, I'm sure all parties can appreciate the convenience and efficiency.
I am a hard worker, I treat everyone that comes before me with respect and I address each case individually. I am easy going and approachable and level headed. Personally, I enjoy watching my grandchildren grow and play sports.
