I am qualified for Magistrate Judge through a combination of experience, education, and real-world judgment. I bring 30 years of law enforcement experience, where I’ve made critical decisions grounded in fairness, accountability, and the law. I earned my MBA in Law Enforcement and Corrections from the University of the Southwest, strengthening my understanding of the justice system. As a husband, father, and small business owner, I understand how court decisions impact everyday people. I will apply the law as written, base decisions on facts, and treat everyone with respect and impartiality.
One of the biggest challenges is balancing efficiency with fairness. Magistrate Judges handle a high volume of cases, but every person deserves to be heard and treated with respect. Another challenge is making difficult decisions that can significantly impact people’s lives while remaining impartial and grounded in the law. There is also the responsibility of ensuring individuals understand the court process, especially those without legal representation. Maintaining public trust is critical, every decision must be based on facts, applied consistently, and free from personal bias or outside influence.
The most effective way to improve Magistrate Court procedures and efficiency is to stay grounded in the Constitution, laws, and statutes established by the Supreme Court while strengthening how the court operates day to day. Clear, consistent procedures and well-trained staff help ensure cases move efficiently without sacrificing fairness. Improving scheduling practices, using technology for case tracking and communication, and reducing unnecessary delays can make a significant impact. It’s also important to ensure individuals understand the process, especially those without representation. Efficiency should never come at the expense of justice, every case must still be handled with impartiality, respect, and strict adherence to the law.
I want voters to know that I’m not removed from the community—I live the same daily life many of you do. I balance work, family, and responsibilities, and I understand how courtroom decisions affect real people. I’m a small business owner and partner at No Limits Jiu Jitsu and Fitness in Belen, where I don’t just own the business—I train and coach. I’ve also instructed advanced motorcycle riders through my business, ProRider Albuquerque, and I serve at my local church. Service isn’t something I talk about—it’s something I live daily. My 30 years in law enforcement have prepared me professionally, but my life in this community keeps me grounded. I’m committed to applying the law fairly, listening first, and treating every person with respect

I am qualified to serve as magistrate judge because I bring a lifetime of experience grounded in fairness, service, and sound judgment.
I spent 30 years working for United Parcel Service, where I developed a strong work ethic and respect for people from all backgrounds. For over 20 of those years, I was elected by my peers to serve as a union shop steward. In that role, I represented employees, resolved disputes, and worked to ensure decisions were fair and consistent. I learned to listen carefully, remain impartial, and handle difficult situations with integrity.
I am involved in my community. I serve as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, Appointed by the judge to advocate for children in foster care.
One of the major challenges of serving as a magistrate judge is balancing a high caseload while ensuring that every case receives careful attention. Magistrate courts often handle a large number of cases, and it is important to manage them efficiently without sacrificing fairness or thoroughness.
Another challenge is making timely decisions in situations that can have a significant impact on people’s lives, such as setting bond, issuing warrants, or determining outcomes in misdemeanor cases. These decisions must be made based on the law and the facts, often under time pressure, while remaining fair and impartial.
It is essential to set aside personal opinions and remain impartial at all times.
Improving magistrate court procedures and efficiency begins with strong organization and consistent case management. Setting clear schedules, starting court on time, and ensuring that cases move forward without unnecessary delays helps respect the time of everyone involved while maintaining fairness.
Clear communication is also essential. Many individuals in magistrate court are not represented by attorneys, so providing straightforward explanations of procedures and expectations can reduce confusion, prevent delays, and help cases proceed more smoothly.
The goal is to create a court that is efficient, but never at the expense of fairness, respect, or careful consideration of each case.
I have spent my life committed to service, fairness, and my community. I have been married to my wife for 42 years. We are proud to have our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter living next door, which reflects how deeply rooted we are in this community.
Throughout my career with United Parcel Service and in my volunteer work, I have always believed in treating people with respect and standing up for those who need a voice. Whether serving as a union shop steward, a volunteer with Court Appointed Special Advocates, or as an ombudsman advocating for residents in assisted living facilities, my focus has always been on fairness and helping others.
A courtroom should be a place where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
