City of Westworth Village City Council, Place 2

City councils in Texas each have specific responsibilities unique to their city. Duties of a city council generally include setting the tax rate, approving a budget, adopting local ordinances, and managing land transactions. City councils plan and oversee public services and facilities: police and fire protection; health and sanitation services; animal control; street construction and maintenance; garbage collection and disposal; transportation systems; recreational facilities; parking; airports; jails; parks and zoos; libraries and museums; hospitals and emergency services; building codes/zoning; and water and sewage service. City council members may also elect other municipal officers or appoint citizens to serve on boards and commissions.

What policies, procedures and guidelines would you support to protect residents from discrimination in response to federal funding requirements related to DEI programs and language?

What are the most critical issues facing the city, and how will you address them?

Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. Twenty + years of experience on the Planning & Zoning Commission. Over forty years of experience as a financial advisor.
Given my education and experience stated above, the real task is in providing leadership and direction for the city, in deciding what needs to be done, and in helping plan what the city will be for future generations to come.
Establish regular public meeting times, similar to our governing body or planning commission meetings, to increase public understanding and engagement.
Similar to our Ordinance Enforcement Policy perhaps a Grievance and Anti-Retaliation Policy: Establish a process for residents to file complaints and ensure that retaliation against those who report discrimination is prohibited.
The level of cooperation with ICE under the 287(g) program depends on individual values and beliefs regarding immigration enforcement and community safety. Some may support the program; others may oppose it. I wholeheartedly trust the WV police and the community they protect.
If elected, I will address critical issues along with my fellow councilmembers through a combination of innovative solutions, community engagement, and strategic planning. Currently WV enjoys financial stability and can work towards building a resilient, thriving community that can withstand complex challenges as they arise. We are fortunate indeed.

I am currently serving on Westworth Village City Council in Place 2. I have use input from the citizens to make the decisions while on council and will continue to seek input from all to ensure all voices are heard. Using the input as the data for the decisions made while on council.
I will continue to be available for all citizens via email, calls or to meet and discuss concerns in person. Continue to ensure agenda and minutes are posted timely for all citizens to view and allow time for clarification on topics as needed.
For a city our size and having a staff that cares about the city, inclusion and diversity will continue without direct programs being in place. For discrimination, policy are in place to protect staff, citizens, elected and appointed officials and outlines with whom each should be handled.
I am not aware of this currently happening in our city, I would defer support to our police department for the professionalism within the department to all they contact performing the duty of job to serve and protect.
Continuing the drainage plan and capital improvement projects that are currently in the pipeline. Review and re-prioritize as new issues arise. Budgeting projects in accordance with grants and bonds to ensure we are keeping the lowest tax rate for the citizens.
