City of North Richland Hills Council Member, Place 6

City councils in Texas each have specific responsibilities unique to their city. Duties of a city council generally include setting the tax rate, approving a budget, adopting local ordinances, and managing land transactions. City councils plan and oversee public services and facilities: police and fire protection; health and sanitation services; animal control; street construction and maintenance; garbage collection and disposal; transportation systems; recreational facilities; parking; airports; jails; parks and zoos; libraries and museums; hospitals and emergency services; building codes/zoning; and water and sewage service. City council members may also elect other municipal officers or appoint citizens to serve on boards and commissions.

I'm running for NRH City Council to bring kindness, accountability, and practical solutions to our city. After being run over while walking by a pickup truck, I experienced both the care of competent EMTs and gaps in the system--the driver left the scene, and the initial police report showed shared fault without citation.

With 30 plus years in corporate settings and as a current small business owner, I'm focused on closing gaps in the delivery of city services so everyone feels at home.
Guided by my belief that kindness is leadership, and as the only African American on the council, I would help ensure all residents feel welcomed, heard, and included.
I would support policies that ensure all residents are treated fairly, consistently, and with respect. That begins with clear, nondiscriminatory standards, staff training, and consistent procedures so everyone receives the same level of service. In responding to federal funding requirements, the city should remain compliant while focusing on fair access, transparency, and accountability. Residents should feel confident their city treats everyone with dignity and delivers services fairly.
I think law enforcement should remain focused on its primary responsibility--keeping our community safe and building trust with residents. I would be cautious about entering into agreements that could shift local resources away from community policing or create fear that discourages residents from reporting crimes or seeking help. My focus is ensuring North Richland Hills remains a safe, welcoming community where people feel comfortable engaging with law enforcement and city services.
The most critical issues facing NRH are infrastructure, public trust and maintaining a strong sense of community as we grow. First, we must address our aging streets, sidewalks and crosswalks. Second, building trust through transparency and listening is essential. Finally, we must preserve a sense of belonging. As our city evolves, every resident should feel respected, heard and connected to their community.

I am a husband, dad, grandpa Bachelors Administration -Northwood University Insurance industry since 1974- Numerous awards & accomplishments- Farmers Ins Agency Owner since 1990- Have Served on City Council 1998-2002 -Park & Recreation Board 14 yrs & Re-Elected to City Council 2024. Member of the NE Lions Club & NE Tarrant County Chamber & member of Cross Church NRH
My goal is to continue to serve our city and continue the growth pattern we are currently on and building what was in place by previous leadership councils in the past. Our goal is to shift the tax burden from residential as much as possible to Commercial Tax dollars- helping stabilize the residential tax rate which we have been able to do so far. We are continuing our goal of keeping our Library & Park & recreation systems top ranked in Texas
we have implemented new rules for transparency when we were elected in 2024- where majority of all of our meetings to be publicly posted and the ability to watch either live stream or made available to watch. It has been a great success and have had numerous compliments for the ability to be seen on line
I believe no citizen should be excluded from any participation in our city. I do not agree with one individual or one group having more access or than another person. To exploit or use one person or group to advance ones personal viewpoint I believe to be a tragedy to human behavior. Everyone has a right to their opinion & everyone has right to choose the opinion for their chosen reason- for anyone to force their opinion through using the government sources or any other source is a moral failure
The Law stipulates explicitly what the rules are. As an elected official I am required to enforce those laws. If we don't like the law- then there is a legal process that we all have access to-go through the process and change the law. Don't break the law, then blame the law for the consequences.
I believe NRH is well set for the future. We have great leadership team in our Council & City Administration all the way to the last person on the payroll with great plans for our city. To run for office means you should have a plan on what a candidate can bring to the Council for the sole purpose of improving the city- not just complaining especially if you have never been involved. Want to participate? Get Involved, our city has a lot opportunities to serve. Show up, help, volunteer and learn.
