Mansfield Independent School District Place 7

Trustees are elected to specific positions but represent their entire independent school district and have the following responsibilities mandated by State and Federal laws: select and employ the superintendent, manage public schools, establish operating policies, monitor expenses, adopt and approve a budget, and adopt employment policies. Additionally, they have the authority to set tax rates, levy and collect taxes, buy and sell property, exercise eminent domain, accept donations, charge fees, and call bond elections. Trustees elect their own officers: President or Chair, (Vice president or vice chair), Secretary and Treasurer.

Occupation Leadership Coach and Trainer
I am a leadership development coach, trainer and business owner who equips leaders to navigate growth and change. I have experience leading teams, developing leaders, and supporting organizations through transition. I am actively involved in community initiatives that support leadership development and educational opportunity.
I am running for school board to provide intentional, responsible leadership during a time of transition. With a new superintendent and evolving challenges in public education, our district needs leaders who think strategically, listen well, and support strong governance. My background in leadership development and guiding organizations through change equips me to help move our district forward with clarity and accountability.
School campuses should be places where every student feels safe, supported, and able to focus on learning. The presence of ICE or Border Patrol on campuses can create fear and anxiety for students and families, which disrupts that environment. I believe schools should remain focused on education, not immigration enforcement, so all students can learn and thrive.
I would build on current processes by ensuring public input is accessible, timely, and meaningful. This includes clear communication of agendas, expanded opportunities for input beyond agenda items, and multiple ways for families to engage—both in person and online. Transparency means not only sharing information, but making it understandable and creating consistent opportunities for the community’s voice to be heard.
I support a clear, consistent review process that respects parent concerns while relying on the professional expertise of educators. Mansfield ISD already has a structured reconsideration process, and I would ensure it remains transparent, timely, and applied fairly. Decisions should be made through thoughtful review committees, not politics, so materials remain age-appropriate and aligned with educational goals.
The most critical issues facing our district are state underfunding, the growing administrative burden on teachers, and student learning gaps alongside rising mental health needs. I will advocate for strong public school funding, support efforts to reduce unnecessary paperwork so teachers can focus on students, and prioritize resources that address both academic recovery and student well-being.
