I hold a B.A. in English Language Arts and Education from Texas Wesleyan University (previously College) as well as a M.Ed. in Reading, also from Texas Wesleyan. I have served as an elected member of the Kennedale City Council since 2024 and previously served on the Kennedale Board of Adjustments, including as chairperson.
In the past two years, we have made some progress in bringing the tax rate and city spending under control, as well as improving accountability to the citizens. I hope to continue this progress as mayor. My two years' experience on Council, my time on the BOA, my experience in public education, as a Field Rep for the U.S. Census Bureau, as a team lead in retail, my military experience, and most importantly as a life-long resident of Kennedale have all prepared me for this office.
We have a citizen forum at all city council meetings. This element of the agenda is critical for public input. Further, citizens need to be encouraged to provide their perspective. Regarding transparency, if it is important enough for the Council to consider it, it needs to be addressed publicly in a city council meeting.
As a city we must follow the law as it relates to federal funding.
As a city we are required to follow all federal laws. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is not within the purview of the city.
The most critical issue facing our city is the city's lack of responsiveness to the will of the majority of the citizens rather than to a select few. I will continue to work to ensure that citizens are not only heard, but that their perspectives are considered when making decisions that affect them.
