Trustees are elected to specific positions but represent their entire independent school district and have the following responsibilities mandated by State and Federal laws: select and employ the superintendent, manage public schools, establish operating policies, monitor expenses, adopt and approve a budget, and adopt employment policies. Additionally, they have the authority to set tax rates, levy and collect taxes, buy and sell property, exercise eminent domain, accept donations, charge fees, and call bond elections. Trustees elect their own officers: President or Chair, (Vice president or vice chair), Secretary and Treasurer.

I am running to ensure every Wildcat has a dedicated advocate who truly understands our schools. As a former KISD Trustee, PTO President, and mother of five, I have the "boots on the ground" experience to lead on Day 1. Professionally, as a court interpreter and Public Administration student, I specialize in bridge-building and ethical oversight. I’m committed to teacher retention, student outcomes, and a collaborative "Team of 8" that puts our children’s futures above all else.

To ensure transparency, I will advocate for accessible meeting times, open sessions, and clear, plain-language agendas posted well in advance. I believe in expanding public comment opportunities to ensure every voice is heard before a vote is cast. My background as a professional interpreter and Public Administration student has taught me that true transparency requires proactive outreach, not just compliance. I am committed to a "no surprises" board that keeps our community informed and
I support a transparent, standard process that balances parental rights with educational integrity. Decisions should follow established board policy, utilizing a formal review committee of educators and parents to evaluate challenged materials objectively. I advocate for keeping "age-appropriateness" as the guiding North Star while ensuring our libraries remain resource-rich. We must protect our teachers from "gotcha" politics by having clear, consistent rules that everyone can follow.
The most critical issues are teacher retention and student outcomes. We must address the "burnout" crisis by ensuring our educators are competitively compensated and respected as professionals. I will advocate for a balanced budget that prioritizes the classroom over administrative bloat. Additionally, I’ll work to bridge the communication gap between the Board and parents, ensuring transparency in how state mandates affect our local calendar and resources. Our Wildcats deserve a stable, focused

I am running because I am an advocate for students of all learning styles and needs. My goal is to make sure all students are supported, not just high-performing ones.
I do not believe ICE and Border Patrol agents should have a presence on school campuses.
I would ensure transparency and strong public input by posting clear agendas and materials several days in advance, livestreaming and archiving all meetings, and protecting time for public comment before any votes. I’d also offer multiple ways to participate—both in person and online—and follow up by responding to community concerns so people know their voices are heard and considered.
I would support a clear, consistent review process where concerns about books are submitted formally, evaluated by a diverse committee (educators, librarians, and parents), and based on established educational standards—not individual opinions. Materials should remain available during review, decisions should be transparent, and there should be an appeals process to ensure fairness and protect students’ access to appropriate resources.
The most critical is and will always be student achievement. I will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure the growth and advancement of our students.
