Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District School Board Trustee, Place 6
Trustees are elected to specific positions but represent their entire independent school district and have the following responsibilities mandated by State and Federal laws: select and employ the superintendent, manage public schools, establish operating policies, monitor expenses, adopt and approve a budget, and adopt employment policies. Additionally, they have the authority to set tax rates, levy and collect taxes, buy and sell property, exercise eminent domain, accept donations, charge fees, and call bond elections. Trustees elect their own officers: President or Chair, (Vice president or vice chair), Secretary and Treasurer.

Occupation
Assistant District Attorney Denton County
I have a BBA in Marketing from Texas A&M and a law degree from Texas Tech. I have been a prosecutor with the Denton County DA’s office for 17 years. Currently, I am the Chief of the Misdemeanor Trial Division where I train and supervise 16 attorneys. I was previously the Chief of the Crimes Against Children Unit prosecuting child murder, sexual assault and injury cases.
Our children, families and educators deserve an advocate who is trustworthy, tireless and transparent. Being a GCISD graduate, I have a rich history in our district. As a parent with two children attending GCISD’s schools, I have a vested interest in our district’s success. My experience as a prosecutor provides me with a strong foundation in legal compliance, complex decision-making and public advocacy.
Top priorities for schools are the safety and the well-being of every student. All students deserve to focus on learning, without fear or disruption. The law entitles every student a quality public education. Law enforcement provides an important role in our communities, but public schools should remain focused on learning, not tasked with immigration enforcement. School districts should set clear policies to maintain safe, orderly campuses and minimize disruption to learning environments.
Transparency requires proactive communication with the district’s staff and stakeholders. Rather than one-way dialogue, I would foster two-way engagement with our community. Trustees should conduct roundtable listening sessions with constituents, not merely listen to public comment at meetings. I will explain the what and the why behind my decisions, ensuring transparency. Consistent communication and regular access to trustees fosters public input and trust in the decision making process.
Access to higher learning material benefits all students. Protecting access to information is paramount to ensure student success. Guidelines and policy should be established to ensure the rights of students, parents, educators and the community to evaluate, select and adopt procedures for instructional material and library materials that are age and developmentally appropriate.
GCISD is currently operating without a strategic plan for our future while struggling with financial stewardship. Our community distrusts the board’s decision making processes resulting in divisiveness. These issues make it difficult to attract new families to the district. I will be transparent and candid about my decisions. I will listen to the community, rather than dismiss their concerns. I will look for creative ways to restore programs and increase revenue ensuring financial stability.
