I am running for re-election for a 3rd and final term for Arlington City Council District 5, I have accomplished many things but there is still more to do. I have the experience to do them.
I feel the system we have now for public comment on agenda items is working well.
The city has a policy of following federal law
Our police or staff are not authorized to enforce federal laws.
Zoning and land use reform. I've gotten zoning categories added to our UDC in the areas of housing and commercial development and instigated our new Form Based Code downtown. I have plans for more. In the area of Code Enforcement I am currently heading up an effort to update our multi-family housing inspection program. In the area of public funds, we are not getting a good return on infrastructure investments made and long term liabilities. Land use reform will improve that situation

Small Business Owner
Small business owner & mom of 2. B.S. Anthropology. Boards: Arlington CVB, Downtown Arlington Exec Board (Started Farmers Market & 1st Thursdays, 22% under redevelopment), Boys & Girls Club ($150K raised), Chamber Latino Business Chair, Veterans Business Council, Mayor's Latino Advisory Council, Color Me Empowered Child Advocacy, Hill Elementary PTA.
I'm running because it's time Arlington puts Residents First. Born and raised here, I've lived the full Arlington experience: the good, the hard, and the possible. As a small business owner, civic board member, and mom, I've spent years building this city from the inside. My background in economic development, placemaking, and community advocacy has shown me what works and what's been missing. Dist. 5 deserves strong leadership that shows up for our community with a plan for our next generation.
Today, I show up in District 5 before decisions are made, not after. As a Councilmember that continues with neighborhood meet-ups, accessible town halls, consistent correspondence via email and social, and plain-language communication about what's on the agenda and why it matters. As someone who's sat on multiple civic boards, I know how fast "public input" becomes a checkbox. I will always vote to ensure residents have real notice, real time to speak, and real confirmation that they were heard.
Discrimination has no place in Arlington. Full stop. I support clear, local anti-discrimination policies that protect all residents, including those not covered at the federal level, while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Arlington proved it is possible. A compliant ADO was written in late 2025 that did both. It failed by one vote. My vote would have passed that policy if I had been on council. Residents deserve a representative who believes their quality of life is never negotiable.
I oppose a formal partnership between Arlington PD and ICE. Our officers already comply with all federal legal requirements. Adding ICE responsibilities to our local PD would divert resources, put strain on our PD, blur scope, and undermine the community relationships our PD has worked hard to develop that currently has resulted in decreasing crime by 13% across the city.
Arlington's critical issues are smart growth, affordability, and a residents first quality of life. We're nearly built out so development must be strategic, preserving neighborhoods and attracting opportunity. District 5 specifically needs stronger school support, neighborhood preservation including the International Corridor, and intentional Downtown/UTA development to retain young talent. I'll prioritize residents, protect what makes Arlington unique, and take Arlington into the future.
