I have been a public servant for more than 10 years. I have helped secured millions of dollars for infrastructure and mental health services to rural areas. I am qualified for this office, as I have served the area for many years, from volunteer services to securing funds for vital infrastructure and community needs.
My highest priorities involve rural development. I believe rural areas are usually forgotten or underserved, yet they serve a purpose vital to all states and the country. Economic development aimed at securing and recruiting rural doctors and specialists is my top priority. This can be anything from tax incentives to workforce housing. I also want to address that mental health need is vital not just to rural areas but to suburban and urban areas, too. It is vital that we support each other with proper and coordinated mental health services.
Water conservation methods must be supported in the legislature. I believe we can plan regional water authorities or planning organizations within the state to develop a coordinated comprehensive plan for conservation of water. Once developed, those organizations or local governments can begin implementation of the plan. This, though, must be supported by proper funding and addressing vital infrastructure needs.
All large economic projects should produce quality jobs. That is, the jobs created must pay a good amount of salary. Salaries should exceed the median per capita for New Mexicans. Also, incentives should be bolstered for distressed areas.
Proper coordination should be implemented in the area. Placing discharge coordinators in hospitals and detention centers will help people realize and utilize mental health resources. Adequate amount of counselors should be placed in all schools, and mental health services should be made to be covered by insurance companies.
