I’m qualified to represent District 36 because I live (work and play) the same life as the people I’m asking to represent. I’m a working parent, a neighbor, and someone who understands the challenges families in Las Cruces face every day—from rising costs to access to healthcare.
I’m also a naturalized citizen, and my family’s journey taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and opportunity. I’m not a career politician—I’m someone who believes government should be accountable, transparent, and focused on the people.
What qualifies me most is that I will listen, I will show up, and I will fight for the community—not special interests.
The highest priorities in District 36 are clear: healthcare, cost of living, education, and public safety. I plan to address them by focusing on real, practical solutions—not politics as usual.
That means expanding access to healthcare so families can actually see a doctor when they need one. It means easing the cost of living by supporting local jobs and cutting wasteful spending. It means putting parents back at the center of education and making sure our schools are focused on results. And it means safer communities by supporting law enforcement and addressing issues like addiction and mental health. I’ll bring accountability to government—because if we’re not spending wisely and listening to the people, none of these problems get solved
Water is one of the most urgent challenges facing New Mexico. In an increasingly arid state, we have to treat water like the limited resource it is—protect it, manage it wisely, and plan for the future now.
Economic development is important, but not every project is a good deal. We have a responsibility to make sure any major project truly benefits the people of District 36—not just outside investors or special interests.
Too many families are waiting too long or traveling too far just to see a doctor. We need to bring more providers into southern New Mexico by expanding incentives and building partnerships that encourage doctors and nurses to practice here.
We need to invest more in mental health and addiction treatment.
Finally, we have to reduce bureaucracy and make healthcare more affordable. My goal is to make healthcare more accessible, more efficient, and more responsive to the people who need it.

It’s been an honor to represent you in the NM State House serving District 36. I want to work with each and every one of you to continue bringing more jobs to our district, conserving our natural resources, and investing in our future together.
I’m a lifelong outdoorsman and I have a passion for public service. I was elected to the Las Cruces City Council in 2007, where I led the effort to create the City of Las Cruces Sustainability Officer and to focus on economic development and care for existing neighborhoods. I have served Las Cruces in the State Legislature since 2016.
Now I serve as Chair of the House Budget Committee, where I’m focused on making our state budget work for our working families.
As Chair of the House Budget Committee, my highest priority is ensuring our state budget acts as a bridge to a more resilient and prosperous future for every New Mexican. A budget is more than just numbers, it's a moral document that outlines our state's commitment to education, opportunity, conservation, & healthcare. Here are some of the priorities I've championed:
-Provided over $100 million for public safety
-Added $500 million for public schools
-Cut gross receipts tax
-Eliminated tax on Social Security
-Dedicated $70 million for public lands
-Increased working families and child tax credits
-Provided millions to first-time homebuyers for down payments
-Invested over $500 million for clean water
-Record clean energy investments
We need to increase drought response measures that conserve water for farms and families while tapping new water sources through treatment and innovation. I have led the largest funding investments for wetlands protection, river stewardship, watershed restoration and nature based solutions while also supporting large scale agricultural water savings efforts and water reuse and treatment research.
I evaluate large-scale economic development projects based on long-term sustainability and return on investment for New Mexico’s working families. Projects must guarantee high-quality job creation with competitive wages and benefits. We must ensure strict resource stewardship, verifying that a project’s water footprint does not compromise our future. I have led development of our clean energy resources. Large economic development projects should utilize clean energy resources and pay for their power. Ultimately, I look for a net positive fiscal impact where long-term tax revenue outweighs public investment, alongside deep community integration through local hiring and partnerships with our community colleges.
It's a priority to reduce healthcare premiums and prescription drug prices; protect individuals with pre-existing conditions; and recruit new doctors, nurses, and dentists to Southern New Mexico. Last session we did a lot to address barriers to healthcare services in NM by creating incentives for Doctors to stay and practice in NM. We addressed medical malpractice and we passed state compacts. We should see the benefit of these legislative interventions soon.
