I have served in the New Mexico State Legislature for 6 terms. In this time I have been effective at working with the communities within House District 10 to provide vital community infrastructure projects. I have been a classroom teacher for eleven years and have been able to use my classroom experience to pass crucial, bipartisan education legislation that has been signed into law by both Republican and Democratic governors.
I would continue to use the interim legislative process to gather input from key community stakeholders and fellow legislators to craft well-vetted legislation for the betterment of our communities here in New Mexico.
As a state, we must bolster our water storage efforts upstream and continue to be efficient with our water usage.
Large economic development project should include detailed environmental impact assessments as well as cumulative impact assessments for the communities these projects are located as to not overburden particular communities.
The legislature must continue to expand Medicaid programs across the state to improve coverage for all New Mexicans. We must also continue to support medical malpractice reform efforts to recruit our medical school students and retain our existing doctors in the state.
