Occupation Graphic Design & Marketing Consultant, Visual Communications Specialist
Filing County Valencia
While I'm not an experienced politician, I have been politically involved for many years - both as a Precinct Chair and Voter Registration Agent. Increasingly over the years I felt compelled to get more involved and I feel that with my acumen in Visual Communications I can offer a more comprehensive operation in terms of helping to represent and address the concerns of my district and community.
One of the largest tenets of both my campaign and my priorities is pragmatism, and taking practical approaches when weighing initiatives. Accessibility and practicality are huge tenets for me, and I intend to carry both those notions throughout my campaign and possible tenure. This simply means that I intend to fully avail myself to my constituents and those organizations bringing forth initiatives which seek to help my constituents in a pragmatic manner.
I feel we should do a better job of conserving, treating and transporting water. Furthermore, we need to establish some form of Water Utility Authority to address runoff and flood concerns. All too often we hear of "100 year" flood events which increasingly seem to occur every three to five years. This flooding has left many residents decimated, and flood control as-well-as water conservancy need to be better dealt with. As a legislator, I would carefully scrutinize all legislation dealing with water use and abuse.
In my view, (and in line with pragmatism) civic planning and economic development in my district could be better handled when more scrutiny is involved - principally environmental, water, and economic impacts need to be further scrutinized. This scrutiny should also be measured when traffic, ingress and egress are involved and how that impacts can affect my constituents as well.
Specifically in my District (House District 7) while Valencia County has broken ground on a hospital facility on the West portion of the county, my constituents could use more medical facilities on the East portion of Valencia County, specifically in the realm of Substance Use Disorder and Behavioral Health to help compliment comprehensive medical treatment access.
