I have 20 years of experience in the Sandoval County Assessor's Office as an Appraiser and Appraiser Supervisor. I hold a B.S. in Organizational Leadership and am a State Certified Appraiser. Additionally, I earned my national RES designation from IAAO and am a nationally Certified Public Manager. I have also instructed appraisal courses for NMSU/NM EDGE. My hands-on appraisal experience, leadership, and management skills prepare me to serve effectively as your Sandoval County Assessor.
I will prioritize accurate, fair, and uniform property valuations. I will support ongoing staff training, strengthen internal processes, and use accepted appraisal practices to ensure consistency and compliance with state standards. I will expand public awareness of available exemptions that help taxpayers save money and improve outreach to educate taxpayers on the appraisal and protest process. I will ensure the Assessor’s Office is responsive, accessible, and focused on serving the public.
I will ensure accuracy, fairness, and transparency by applying professional appraisal standards and methods. Consistent application of regulations and processes across all properties will ensure uniformity in valuations. Regular staff training and quality reviews will maintain high standards. I will provide clear, accessible information on property values, exemptions, and the protest process to help taxpayers understand how values are determined and strengthen trust in the Assessor’s Office.
I currently provide and will continue to provide ongoing staff training in accepted appraisal methods, state property tax laws, and day-to-day operational procedures, drawing on my experience as an appraiser, supervisor, and instructor. I have trained many Sandoval County appraisers in valuing property, applying laws and regulations, defending valuations at protests, maintaining records, processing exemptions, coordinating workflow, and delivering responsive, professional service to taxpayers.
