My 23 years in law enforcement as a Detective and Chief of Police show my dedication to protecting families and earning the community's trust. As a 20-year small-business owner, I understand the importance of fiscal discipline and working hard for local prosperity. I bring a strong work ethic and sense of duty. I’ve lived in Rio Rancho for years, and as a husband, father of five, and grandfather of four, I’m personally invested in keeping Sandoval County safe and thriving.

My top priorities are public safety, infrastructure, water security, and fiscal responsibility because these issues directly impact our community's well-being. I’ll fully fund our Sheriff’s Department and Fire & Rescue to improve recruitment, retention, and response times so our families stay safe. I’ll advocate for smart infrastructure planning to reduce congestion and save time. Every budget decision will focus on essentials, not bureaucracy—I’ll act as a watchdog for your tax dollars.

Transparency and accountability aren’t optional—they’re essential. I’ll make sure the public gets clear, timely information through regular updates on the county website, community meetings, and straightforward communication about upcoming issues. As your Commissioner, I’ll hold open forums and use plain language so every resident in District 3 understands what’s on the agenda and how it affects their families. Government should serve the people, not hide behind bureaucracy.

Water is essential for our future in New Mexico. I am committed to growth that protects our water rights and manages our supply wisely. We must expand today without risking future shortages. Smart planning should meet current residents' needs and ensure new projects do not strain our resources. I will work with experts and fellow commissioners to secure long-term water availability while supporting responsible growth.

Sandoval County should assist incorporated communities with animal control through smart, funded partnerships that don’t strain our budget. As a former police chief, I recognize that stray animals impact public safety and quality of life. I’ll support practical mutual aid agreements, similar to those in fire and law enforcement, while protecting core services and taxpayer dollars.

I am a third generation New Mexican and Marine Corps veteran with nearly 30 years of business experience. I currently serve as Chair of the New Mexico Veterans and Military Families Caucus. My background includes leadership, problem solving, and working with people from different perspectives to address issues affecting veterans, families, and the broader community. I understand the importance of accountability, public service, and making practical decisions that serve the public interest.

My highest priorities are Safety, Savings, and Service. Safety means supporting law enforcement, fire and emergency response, safe roads, and protecting water resources. Savings means careful budgeting, responsible infrastructure planning, and respect for taxpayers. Service means staying focused on core county responsibilities, responding to residents, and making decisions openly. I would address these priorities through practical planning, coordination, and accountability.

To better inform Sandoval County citizens, I will "meet voters where they are" through outreach. I'll utilize social media and a District 3 newsletter for plain-language updates on County issues.

Additionally, I'll include monthly "Coffee with the Commissioner" in spots like Enchanted Hills and town halls for major decisions. By engaging neighborhood and veteran groups, I'll ensure residents are empowered and heard before a vote is cast.

Citizens should be informed before decisions are made, not after. I would support earlier notice, plain language explanations, and outreach beyond the county website alone. That means meeting constituents where they are, including community platforms such as Nextdoor, email, and public meetings. I would also push for clear agendas, timely posting of supporting materials, and meaningful chances for public input before major votes.

Sandoval County’s primary responsibility is animal control in unincorporated areas, and that must come first. At the same time, I support cooperation and coordination with incorporated communities when it improves efficiency, public safety, or animal welfare. The goal should be practical partnerships, not duplication, especially as the County invests in its new Animal Resource Center.
