I have worked in HR for over 11 years, I know how to develop policies that help organizations and people to ensure they have a safe environment and avoid pitfalls from unintended consequences. I have served our country as a 31 Echo, and work with my community to learn what issues they are facing now. We need elected officials that understand the issues of our communities, but also understand how to fix them within their scope. An elected Official should have a sharp mind that understands how to face future challenges and be able to work with others that may outshine their expertise without having ego issues.
Food insecurity, water scarcity, large companies polluting our communities, housing affordability, healthcare cost/access, declining infrastructure, and lack of county economic development plans for fiscal diversity.
Working with current stakeholders to find different solutions for each problem that will require partnership, grants, and investment in our people. We need a county commission that works with the state rather than fighting against it and making it more difficult for future opportunities.
We have multiple venues for community meetings, I attended them and talk about future and past topics the county commission has spoken like Data centers in Otero and water usage for the Meta Data center in Texas that is using our water.
Data Centers are part of the current infrastructure for not just AI, but also internet usage in general. However, they are not permanent job creators, they should not be built on hot and arid environments, and they should only use green renewables for their operations. The companies that operate them are mostly Billionaire owned and they need to pay their fair share and not exploit our communities for the same resources that would house hundreds of thousands of us. Our County should focus on attracting remote jobs by using Tax incentives, free workforce training, ensure we have broadband for our communities, use of community centers as coworking hubs, and local preferences for county remote contracts.
