Attracting Industry and more skilled jobs
Continue to work with my fellow commissioners and county manager to address and fund efforts to hire more sheriff's deputies, increase training for law enforcement and address high crime areas in Luna County.
Develop processes to work with City Administrators to address properties that have been abandoned, left to decay, and are eyesores to the community.
Obtain state and federal grants to repair infrastructure in Luna County. Work with industry and other businesses to address ways that they can invest in better infrastructure as it benefits their bottom line.
Insure property rights to farmers and ranchers. Keep their water rights intact and fight to defend them. Farming and Ranching is a key industry in Luna County.
Several ways. County Newsletter, Chamber of commerce Quaker, County Facebook and Instagram sites, Newspaper, radio, and television. I would make it a priority to fund our media department in order to provide full coverage of all that we are doing as a County Board.
Not all industry requires water. I would address the need for industries in the area to develop uses for wastewater, water generation using atmospheric tools, and recycling efforts. There are countries, like Israel, that were extremely arid and have made deserts into lush and flourishing farmland. Invest in efforts for conservation and development of such technologies here in Luna County.
