DATA CENTERS: Data centers can bring some economic benefit, but also have a negative impact on the power grid, water supply, and land use. Do you support the establishment of additional data centers in Maryland? Why or why not?
UTILITY COSTS: What do you see as the factors contributing to escalating utility costs in Maryland? How will you address them?
TRANSPORTATION: Should the availability of public transportation be improved across the state? Why or why not?
BUDGET: Maryland is required to balance the budget every year. What will be your three top budget priorities, and what programs will you fight for?

I support the establishment of additional data centers in Maryland only if they are regulated and monitored and if they pay for their own power usage and usage of additional resources. We must also make sure that we are not losing job opportunities to artificial intelligence (AI) or other non-human resources.
Utility companies have been abusing the system and third party companies did not want to be told they couldn't, all while the federal government undermines our efforts to build capacity and invest in the energy of the future. We have worked on comprehensive policies to prohibit CEOs from charging rate payers to benefit their shareholders, to build capacity in existing technology while still retaining our green initiatives, and stopping utilities for charging MD for delivery to other states.
Public transportation is a lifeline for many Marylanders and as such we must invest in strategic initiatives such as public transit centered housing and multi-model transit. Additionally, the patterns of how people are living, working, and thriving are changing and we need to keep up with those changes by recognizing jobs are not always in the same place as housing. Finally we have a thriving east coast business and arts sector and have to invest to stay competitive.
Top three - Health, education, and transportation. As previous Chair of Public Health & Minority Health Disparities, now as Chair of the Health Committee, I am fighting for funding for the DDA, Behavioral Health, Maternal Health, SUD programs, Community Health Workers, Mobile Crisis, Assisted Outpatient Treatment, and our Federally Qualified Health Centers. Additionally I have prioritized reform of our oversight for Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities and Residential Recovery Facilities.
In the health space I continue to push policies which ensure culturally competent access to care regardless of ethnicity or immigration status. Additionally we are creating pathways for internationally training health professionals to achieve licensure in Maryland. Beyond my committee work I support policies which support our immigrant communities preventing harassment and harm due to racial profiling as well as anti-bias training and standards for our health and public safety professionals.
