I am running for the Clerk of Court for Anne Arundel County because I want to continue to deliver to the community the world class customer service that you have come to expect when you conduct business at the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. I have been your Chief Deputy Clerk (second only to the Clerk of Court) for the past 7 years. Prior to that, I was a Lawyer with over 20 years of experience and I know how important a well run Clerk’s office is to the community.
We work consistently with our Clerks to help them give excellent customer service by ensuring that they have sufficient supervisory support, training and resources to assist you when interacting with the Clerk’s Office. We monitor the workflow of our Clerks to ensure that we are close to one day processing for incoming work. We track accuracy in our work to ensure that your documents are accurately recorded and moved along in the Judicial process.
As Clerk, I will work to improve efficiencies and outreach to the community. We have reduced our processing time and I will work to continue that success. We are working to advance the use of computer-assisted processing to make improvements in training and accuracy for our Clerks. In addition, for the past 2 years, we piloted remote weddings in the Library on Valentine’s Day. Our next strategic goal is to offer other services in the community which to make access to the Clerk’s Office easier.
It has been my pleasure to be your Chief Deputy Clerk for the past seven years and I will be honored for you to select me as your next Clerk of Court for Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. I have the experience, leadership capabilities and qualifications to continue the excellent work for you at the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County.
I bring the perspective of the citizen to this job. During my short period as a realtor, I was aware of the importance of the court's job of maintaining records, including property deeds. As a reporter in Texas, my beat in Orange Texas was the local courthouse, so I developed an interest in the role the court plays in both the administration of local justice, and in the life of the community, through maintaining property, marriage, wills, and other records that matter in an individual's life.
I want to improve courthouse operations, to make them faster and more user friendly. We don't need to hire expensive consultants to do this. By maintaining closer contact with both the professional courthouse community and with the average citizens, we can see where we need to change and improve our operations to reduce costs, speed up operations, and make things easier to do, and more transparent to the general public.
Make our operations more user friendly, and to reduce costs wherever possible. To the Anne Arundel resident, I want to make the courthouse, YOUR house.
I will work hard to ensure that the courthouse is YOUR house. I have a broad background which will help me serve all Anne Arundel's many different residents. I hitchhiked across America as a youth, served as an artillery officer in the National Guard, was a reporter in Texas and the Middle East, worked in Washington as a speechwriter, appointee and contractor, and have patented two inventions and written two books. I will put all this experience to work for you.
