My top priority is to always put the interests of town residents first. I will evaluate every decision and vote by asking: 'How does this directly benefit our citizens?'
I am committed to working collaboratively and respectfully with fellow council members, the town clerk, town employees, and residents. This collaboration will be conducted with complete openness and transparency.
When reviewing any issue, I will thoroughly examine both the pros and cons, and ensure every decision aligns with applicable laws and regulations.
I believe our town has significant opportunities to strengthen transparency, openness, and community engagement. I am committed to actively seeking resident input and feedback on important issues — and I will always welcome constructive criticism.
To achieve this, we should dramatically improve the town website so it becomes a true hub for the community. This includes clearly promoting what our town has to offer, posting upcoming projects, announcing key decision dates well in advance (with opportunities for public input), and making all meeting agendas and minutes easily accessible upfront.
As town council members, we are the leaders of our community. We must demonstrate proactively, initiative, and a genuine commitment to keeping residents informed and involved.
I will work to ensure the Town Council operates with the highest levels of openness and transparency while significantly improving community engagement.
A key priority is dramatically upgrading the town website to make it a truly effective communication tool for residents. This includes posting all meeting agendas and minutes online in a timely manner — exceeding the minimum state requirements — so every resident can easily stay informed.
These straightforward steps will strengthen transparency and foster greater community involvement in town government.
My core guiding principle will always be: 'How does this decision or expenditure directly benefit our town residents?'
I will thoroughly vet all proposed expenditures and prioritize the most important projects for our community. Before any budget planning meetings, I will ensure they are publicly posted well in advance to allow maximum resident input.
For every expense, I will ask: Does this truly meet the needs of our community? I am committed to controlling costs and finding ways to reduce expenses whenever possible.
I will aggressively explore every available option before considering any increase in spending. All budget discussions and proposals will be shared transparently with residents well before any final Town Council vote.
I will proactively post detailed meeting agendas well in advance and actively seek community input. A modern, interactive town website will be key to improving this process.
At every Council meeting, residents should speak first. I will listen attentively, ask questions, and ensure all feedback is carefully weighed — always asking: How does this improve the lives of our residents?
Following public input, the Council will hold open and honest discussions. I will consistently advocate to delay final votes until the next meeting, so every issue receives full consideration.
Deciding and voting in one meeting does not demonstrate real transparency.
The Town Council must balance maintaining today’s infrastructure with planning responsibly for the future.
My guiding principle is simple: How does this decision benefit Walkerton residents both now and in the years ahead?
We cannot neglect safe roads, reliable water and sewer systems, parks, or public services. Failing to maintain them creates bigger problems later. At the same time, we need long-term vision to avoid falling behind.
To achieve this balance, I will push for two key tools: A strong, disciplined budget process that vets every expense, controls costs, and aggressively pursues all state and federal grants.
A comprehensive five-year strategic plan developed with input from residents and local businesses. This plan will prioritize smart, sustainable growth to attract new residents and businesses, strengthening our tax base.
