For several years I have been serving on the Washington twp. Board as the Secretary. I have been an active member and understand the workings of this Board. I also served on two Boards that concentrated on helping the homeless. I am still connected with Silver Linings and continue to attempt to find services for homeless and recovering addicted in our area.
Hunger. Electric,Water and Heating prices rising. Homelessness. I will continue to do my best to listen, to address these concerns and to find resources to assist others with dealing with these issues. I am also active in supporting Mothers Cupboard and our Community Closet as I believe they do an amazing job in serving others in our community.
Water and sewer pipes here are very much in need of being replaced. It will take a big effort for this issue to be solved. This is not an area that the Washington Township board can solve. It is a commissioner issue and will take lots of effort and money to remedy this situation.
The state has guidelines and recommendations that the Board follows. As far as me receiving community input, I have been open to hearing needed information, answering questions and adressing concerns regarding needs of our community.
The trustee and board do work closely together in deciding what is a true need in our township. We would like to be able to meet all the needs however we do deny some requests because we take the time to review the client's financial situation and consider whether or not we are being financially responsible to our county by paying the client's past due bill that the client should have paid. Rent and utilities payments need to be paid by the client instead of cable TV and other unnecessary things. If the client actually does have a history of being responsible with the money they have,we do what we can to help them with their current financial challenge.
