We have to carefully plan for expansion with redundancies. We tend to be reactionary and not predictive. The need for additional data centers is inevitable and should be addressed carefully as we are using and advancing technology. But our actions cannot be at the risk of jobs, strain on the power grid, etc. People are struggling financially and we do not need to add more burden to them.
Energy supply is increasing slower than the demand. Given the advances in technology, and personal uses, growths in populations and business, we must recognize and utilize renewal energy resources.
Yes!! I think it's shameful that we have so many single drivers in cars going in the same direction to the same places. Good, reliable, clean public transportation is a smart way to help relieve drivers of fuel costs, and it improves mental health. Driving in traffic is a known stressor. In addition, we should utilize public zero emissions buses or other such means of public transportation.
My budget priorities are assistance for victims, vulnerable individuals including people who are disabled, children and seniors. My third budget priority is the infrastructure for safe roads, bridges, buildings, public transportation. We have many programs in place that fund these priorities and I will continue to fight for them, i.e. crime victim funding, food and housing for families and seniors, disability programs and mass transit programs.
In my committee, we passed the ban on the 287(g) program, as well as the right of an individual to sue for law enforcement infringement of a constitutional right, etc. I will continue to fight for legislation that will help immigrant communities. In my district, I have a high population of immigrants from Central and South America as well as the African Diaspora. I fight for equality and fair treatment and inclusion of our immigrant community. I also fight for safe living in Maryland.

As a state lawmaker, I will neither oppose the establishment of additional data centers in our state nor will I support costly tax breaks to large corporations who promise to build them here. Data centers are needed for current and future computing needs, especially with the proliferation of artificial intelligence. Their construction also frequently supports family-supporting jobs. However, they are straining our electricity grid and often face opposition from communities where they are built.
Electricity supply isn’t keeping up with demand. Until recently, there was a conflict between building cheaper energy and investing in green energy. That is no longer true. The cheapest and fastest to deploy forms of energy are solar, battery storage, and onshore wind–and that was before the beginning of the war in Iran that caused oil prices to spike. Now is the time to double down on green investments rather than turn towards dirtier, more expensive energy sources that take longer to deploy.
Where there is population density for it to be cost-effective, the state should be doing more to provide faster and more reliable public transportation. For example, I live on the Anne Arundel side of Laurel, near Marc’s Campden line. The local bus system, the Regional Transportation Agency of Central Maryland, does not connect to the Laurel Marc station despite making stops within 1 mile of the station. This is just one example of how our current system isn’t as integrated as it could be.
My first budget priority is ensuring the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future is fully funded for the remaining years of its implementation. Second, I would oppose any new taxes and fees on Maryland’s working and middle class. Third, I would support initiatives like the Fair Share Maryland plan, which would close loopholes for the wealthiest individuals and large corporations, bringing in needed revenue to continue investing in a brighter future for our state.
Over the last two years, I’m proud that Maryland has responded to some of the worst of the federal immigration policies. In 2025, the MGA passed legislation protecting sensitive locations, like schools and libraries, from ICE agent abuses. I was also glad to see the bill eliminating 287(g) agreements signed into law last month. When elected, I’ll speak out in support of similar efforts.

Yes, I am optimistic about data centers. They represent an opportunity to expand innovation and our economy with good paying jobs, but this should not be on the backs of ratepayers. As we bring on additional data centers, we should ensure the companies benefiting from their use pay for them instead of ratepayers.
Factors contributing to escalating utility cost include limited in state generation and rising PJM charges. We need to build capacity while maximizing renewable sources like nuclear, geothermal, hydro, solar and wind. I will continue to support and offer policies that address power generation, distribution costs and capacity considerations to lower utility costs.
Yes. Transit oriented development coupled with improving transportation infrastructure and public transportation increases economic opportunity for everyone
Affordability, accountability and opportunity is the lens through which budget priorities should be set. My top priorities are protecting healthcare, education, and essential benefits for working families. I would balance these priorities by reducing wasteful spending and administrative costs that are a part of many programs.
I have supported, advocated, and most importantly voted for legislation that protects worker protections and due process rights to ensure immigrant rights are protected in Maryland so that they can continue to make significant contributions to our communities.

A challenge facing data center development is the previous underinvestment in supporting infrastructure. Looking ahead, it's important that we make thoughtful, strategic investments that foster success. Data centers offer opportunity for smart growth; bring strong economic benefits and creating high- paying jobs that make a meaningful difference in our community. In creating data centers there must be transparency and accountability to ensure appropriate location while preserving communities.
Energy costs are influenced by national and global factors, however, we must remain focused on what we can manage, including strategic infrastructure investment. It is essential to implement appropriate regulations to ensure utility providers operate fairly and do not impose excessive costs, protecting our community from undue financial burden.
Public transportation plays a vital role in helping our community, especially for those who depend on it every day. It connects people to jobs, healthcare, and mental health services, while also supporting a healthier environment. By investing in reliable transit, we can better support our neighbors and improve quality of life for everyone in our community.
My top budget priorities focus on strengthening our community: 1) Healthcare, including mental health and behavioral health diversion programs to reduce criminality and strain on emergency services, 2) Education, ensuring quality learning opportunities for all, and 3) Environmental protections, safe guarding our natural resources and promoting sustainable growth for future generations.
Supporting all community members is essential. As a community police officer and CIT Coordinator, I have a record of putting the community first and being a visible, trusted neighbor. At both local and state levels, immigrant communities deserve the same protections, opportunities, and benefits as every other member of our community, ensuring fairness, inclusion, and shared well-being.
