Data Centers are here. They are necessary but need to be good neighbors. We need to include communities in the selection of locations. They should complement the community with mixed use facilities...greenery, parks surrounding them, retail spaces, noise mitigating devices. They impact the quality of our lives, positive and negative. I am "in" but with these and more attention.
We are in the midst of a perfect storm: energy needs connected with Data Centers; utility companies profiting at our expense. Maryland legislators do have bills to lower the increases. The Governor’s newly released Utility RELIEF ACT combines his lower costs and "LocalPowerAct" with House and Senate bills to offer Marylanders lower bills, holding companies accountable, lowering company profits that have been on our backs. Hopefully, this will help.
Transportation is critical to survival and growth. I constantly argue that my community is locked in, struggling to get to work, schools, shopping in massive traffic. There must be a relationship between groŵth in housing, business, entertainment, etc., and transportation. Transportation must be an integral part around the state, and in the communities for lifestyles and security.
Utilities, education, housing, and I must add public safety, which ncludes juvenile and adult corrections are among my budgetary conerns . How our citizens afford to live, thrive, and grow, focusing on where they live and their emotional, mental, physical well being come back to your questions. These are reflected in my bills. I can't separate them if I believe in a positive and thriving community and state!
I have been a supporter of CASA's work since becoming Delegate. Although matters pertaining to Latinos is most prevalent, in this context, I extend the question to any group of Black/brown people coming from a country of the same when working with the churches, schools, incarceration of those in my community. We are constantly given examples of the inequities/ injustices. We must all have the potential and possibility to be safe...all Marylanders.

I do not support additional data centers in Maryland in their current form. They place heavy strain on the power grid and water supply, and they should not be located in residential communities. Residents should not bear higher utility costs so large facilities can operate. Maryland needs stronger standards, better planning, and proper zoning before considering any new data centers.
I have experienced rising utility costs as well. These increases are driven by aging infrastructure, growing demand, and large users like data centers. I will push for strong oversight of utility companies, require major users to pay their fair share, modernize the grid, and expand renewable energy so residents are not forced to carry unnecessary costs.
Yes, Maryland urgently needs better public transportation. Many communities do not have dependable transit, limiting access to jobs, healthcare, and essential services. Improving transportation will reduce traffic, lower costs for residents, and strengthen economic opportunity. Reliable transit is essential for mobility, equity, and the state’s long‑term growth.
My top budget priorities are strong public education, reliable infrastructure, affordable healthcare, and accessible housing. I will fight for programs that improve school funding, expand transit, modernize utilities, increase mental and physical health services, and support affordable housing so every Maryland resident has stability and opportunity.
I am deeply committed to supporting immigrant communities. Immigrants strengthen Maryland’s economy and enrich our culture. I will fight to expand access to education, healthcare, legal support, and workforce programs, and ensure state services are welcoming and accessible. Every immigrant family deserves safety, opportunity, and a real chance to thrive in Maryland.
