There is a strong concern over data centers in Maryland communities. These concerns include environmental and physical impact on our electric grid. We need to study the full impact of data centers, before we add additional centers.
Yes, there is valid concern that our electric grid is being challenged by data centers and increased use in electricity. We need to study the impact. We also need to create greater renewable energy in Maryland. Lastly, we need to create guardrails to ensure that utility companies are acting in good faith to their consumers and engaging in fair pricing practices.
Yes, we need to invest in public transportation for a variety of reasons. The current traffic in many areas is unsustainable and multi-modal options should be used to reduce traffic on major roads. Investment in public transportation should aim to ensure that these services are accessible to people who currently lack access to public transportation. Lastly, we also need to ensure that we are investing in sustainable and efficient projects to mitigate potential harm to our environment.
My top priority will be investments in lowering costs to increase affordability with priority given to the costs of childcare and energy in our state. Next, protecting education funding will be a priority to ensure that Maryland children leave school with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful. Lastly, I would prioritize investments in public safety by ensuring that districts have access to the funds they need to hire, train and retain police and fire across the state.
I stand strong with our immigrant communities who feel threatened by our current federal government policies. Currently there is fear and uneasiness among our immigrant population. We need to protect rights and abide by our constitution. I have assisted families with support and guidance in this turbulent time. I support passing legislation to ensure that the human rights of all Maryland residents are protected and respected.
