Our grid is affected by data center proliferation in surrounding states like Pennsylvania and Virginia as much as by data centers in Maryland. It is imperative that we continue to work with all the member states of PJM to develop consistent guidelines to require self-generation of energy and protection of water sources for all large load customers. The Utility Relief Act of 2026 puts strenuous reporting requirements and financial tariffs on data centers in Maryland. Public input is very impo
As Vice Chair of the standing committee that is currently working on the Utility RELIEF ACT of 2026, I believe this is groundbreaking legislation that provides immediate, medium, and long-term relief to ratepayers in the state by: requiring grid enhancing technologies, reforming SB1 (2024) to bring back retail competition, streamlining procurement for new energy generation- primarily solar and storage. It disallows ratepayer charges for executive perks , and lowers on-bill charges, among other
Absolutely! The Baltimore Metro area has fallen far behind other similarly- sized cities in public transit offerings. Investment in safe and efficient public transit brings more business and economic opportunities to the region. It is also important for environmental efforts to reduce Green House Gas emmissions by vehicles on the road, and address increasing traffic congestion. We must at least provide direct services between major hubs.
I fight for capitol projects in my district, family supports ( including child care scholarships) and support for our most vulnerable citizens ( such as those with disabilities).
I am honored to represent an area with many new Americans and with an international elementary school. It is important to build trust in those communities by protecting their security in churches, schools, hospitals and public buildings. It is also absolutely necessary to strengthen trust between our immigrant community and our local law enforcement.
I agree that there can be economic benefit from data centers. However, I am opposed to the establishment of any new data center that does not provide/generate their own power for their needs. Data centers must be required to generate their own power to meet massive energy demands without straining the public grid.
The energy policies of the Democrats have led to these costs. Maryland's green energy policies contribute to utility costs. I believe Maryland must produce more of its’ own energy and we must use common sense policies when considering energy production. Sadly, this has not been the case in Maryland and Marylanders are paying the price because of the Democrat’s extreme green agenda.
I think we have to much focus and spending on public transportation. There is a clear lack of ridership and demand. The costs are exorbitant. Most importantly, too much of our tax dollars are diverted to these type of programs as opposed to using the monies to improve, expand, and maintain our public roads and highways.
I believe our first priority in the budget must be public safety. The first obligation of government is to provide for the safety of the citizens. My second budget priority is to improve and maintain our roads and bridges in Maryland. We are plagued with aging infrastructure which must be addressed. My third priority for budgeting is to create a truly independent Inspector General to review all state spending for waste, fraud, and abuse. Our state agencies have clearly been mismanaged.
First, I will work to enforce immigration law. Illegals disadvantage the efforts of legal immigrants in our state. We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the influx of illegals in Maryland. Second, I will work to fully fund public safety. Immigrant communities are often plagued by violence and I will work to provide the public safety they deserve by fully funding law enforcement. Third. I will work to build a thriving economic agenda by lowering taxes, removing regulations.
