Our community deserves transparency and assurance of responsible usage of water and energy. I am collaborating with those who have worked within and helped develop data centers to learn more. A moratorium would afford us an important opportunity to analyze the impacts a data center would have on the local environment, on the health and economic wellbeing of County citizens. We are a 21st century society but we must be responsible stewards for our communities and Earth.
Inefficiency of the grid compounded by increased demand in a technology-driven consumer market and the recent PJMI regional capacity auction issue have contributed to increased electric costs. Maryland's deregulated market allows for some flexibility, however, those choices are limited by region. I will work alongside experts in the field to learn about options that will support & develop plans to reduce ratepayers burden, increase efficiency, while protecting our environmental resources.
Yes, as part of my goal to protect our environmental resources while supporting residents in Maryland, use of public transportation supports reduction in commuter traffic, pollution, and ensures more money is saved at the gas pump and on insurance rates. More money in our bank accounts, more time with our loved ones, fresher, cleaner air and roadways, this is possible with an efficient public transportation system. St Mary’s county is already piloting a program and could use more support.
Promotion of a fair and equitable tax system so that our State budget is not balanced on the backs of our workers or most vulnerable. Universal pre-k and meals so no child goes hungry while learning, an expanded agricultural pathway in our career center. Healthcare options that work for every budget and protection of informed choice in medical decisions. Protection of our agricultural/ rural resources so our farmers and watermen can maintain their livelihoods while feeding our communities.
Support the Constitution. Immigrant taxpayers in Maryland contribute $14.9 billion in combined federal, state, and local taxes annually. I pledge to work alongside our community leaders who are leading the way to restructuring the citizenship pathway to become more dignified, equitable, efficient, affordable and culturally and time sensitive. Supporting pathways to citizenship increases the success of Maryland as a whole.

Data centers can bring jobs, but not if they mean higher bills, water shortages, and an unstable grid for Marylanders. Virginia’s data center boom has already forced us to subsidize $1.3 billion in its transmission upgrades. I co-sponsored HB120, a moratorium on new data centers until they bring their own energy. This means they must build their own power source—like natural gas or nuclear—to meet their needs. This protects our grid and stops them from taking family farms for new power lines.
Maryland families have seen their electric bills surge since 2020. Why? Because of failed radical green mandates and hidden fees. We import 40% of our electricity at a higher cost because Annapolis Democrats shut down our own reliable power plants. I've introduced/co-sponsored legislation to repeal unnecessary taxes and mandates, such as the Climate Solutions Now Act and the EmPower Fee. It's time to put affordable, in-state power and family budgets first.
Should we blindly expand public transit across Maryland? No. Less than 5% of Marylanders use it, yet recent budgets diverted nearly 65% of transportation funds to it, leaving our roads with a $1.3 billion shortfall. Why should the 95% of us who drive pay for systems we don't use? It’s time to fix the roads and bridges we all rely on first. Let's prioritize the basics and end the wasteful spending on projects that serve so few.
Maryland law demands a balanced budget, but Annapolis Democrats have left us with a projected $3 billion structural deficit. My priorities are clear: no new taxes, period. I'll focus on cutting government waste, not raising taxes on hardworking families. Education funds must go to classrooms, not bureaucrats. And welfare must require work to end dependency. It's time for fiscal discipline and personal responsibility.
Legal immigrants strengthen Maryland's economy and communities. But supporting them doesn't mean open borders or sanctuary policies that protect criminals. Annapolis Democrats are tying the hands of our police and refusing to work with federal agents, putting us all at risk. Let's be clear: I support legal immigration and secure borders. We must end sanctuary policies that shield criminals and empower law enforcement to work with ICE. It's time to reward responsibility, not law-breaking.
