I consider this a big concern. I would lean toward skepticism on energy demands from large data centers that could drive costs up and push more towards oversight and alternative uses.
Balance is the key, if we keep that focus, I would oppose the bill if it led to higher taxes and increased government spending. If it attract jobs, eases congestion, I'm for it.

Data centers should come at their own cost. We should not be subsidizing them with tens-of-millions in tax subsidies as we are currently. The costs of operating data centers shouldn't come at the expense of ratepayers.
Utility costs are driven up overwhelmingly by extremist energy mandates. These mandates subsidize energy sources that barely contribute to generation. These mandates punish efficient energy sources so radically that businesses decide to close our current baseload plants - the resulting closures drive up prices, create blackouts and force eminent domain for transmission expansion. These mandates do not include long term solutions such as nuclear. These mandates must be repealed.
Public transit should not be subsidized by gas taxes on drivers.
Repeal the taxes on retirement income so that Marylanders can retire in Maryland. Repeal property taxes to restore the American dream of home ownership. Repeal income taxes so that our youth can actually afford to live and raise a family in our state. I will fight for lower spending and lower taxes.
I will support our immigrant communities by fighting for lower taxes, more affordable living and opportunities for Maryland's children. I will also fight for Maryland's communities by opposing open borders immigration policies.

Data centers play an important role in Maryland’s technology economy, but their development must be carefully managed. I support the responsible growth of data centers only when strong safeguards are in place to protect our power grid, water supply, land use, and surrounding communities. Maryland should require clear standards for energy efficiency, environmental protection, and responsible siting. I am not in agreement the council bill that puts data centers in District 6 at this time.
Rising utility costs in MD are driven by aging infrastructure, supply costs, increased energy demand, and regulatory decisions that impact rates. Many residents in our region rely on BG&E, and recent rate increases have placed additional pressure on working families and seniors. In some cases, families report using portable heaters because they cannot afford their full heating costs, which raises serious safety concerns. I support stronger oversight and energy bill assistance, and solar.
Yes. Reliable public transportation connects residents to jobs, schools, healthcare, and other essential services. In communities in District 6, many residents rely on public transit to travel throughout the region.However, challenges remain, including limited service frequency, long transfer times, reduced late-night options for workers with nontraditional hours, and traffic congestion along major corridors such as Eastern and North Point Blvds. Maryland should invest in improving reliability.

I believe data center proposals must be reviewed carefully. They should meet strong labor and environmental standards, protect neighbors, limit water and energy impacts, and pay for their own grid upgrades rather than shifting costs to consumers. It is important to listen to community members and collaborate with them since these decisions will impact their community. Projects that meet these expectations can be considered, and those that do not should not move forward.

I support stronger oversight, transparency, and affordability measures. BGE’s role as the primary utility provider in the region highlights the importance of strong consumer protections.
