I strongly oppose the construction of data centers in proximity to residential areas or nature preserves. Data centers are constructed disproportionately near Black and brown communities and may have harmful effects on these residents, including spiking utility costs. Data centers may bring economic benefits, but we must take actions that don’t contribute further to climate change and environmental degradation, and that won’t hurt our fellow Marylanders.
The overconstruction of data centers, industrial expansion near residential areas, and the lack of clean energy infrastructure all contribute to escalating utility costs that are hurting Marylanders. I will commit to opposing the expansion of data centers across the state to reduce strain on Marylanders trying to pay their bills. Also, investing in clean energy infrastructure is more sustainable long-term and will increase energy reliability during weather events, bringing down utility costs.
I am absolutely in favor of improving public transit. Our society has suffered as a result of a lack of public transportation. The lack of public transportation has isolated communities from one another and restricted the movement of lower-income or Americans with disabilities. Public transit is the future of low-carbon, sustainable transportation. It is safer than cars, more accessible, more pedestrian-friendly, and contains many social and communal benefits, and I support its improvement.
1. Healthcare & mental health – Expanding access to mental health care; Medicare for All 2. Public Education – Advocating for salary increase for teachers and safe, modern, and well-resourced schools; supporting gun-control laws. 3. Housing affordability – Advocating for increased housing affordability by increasing amount of moderate-income housing units (MIHU); advocating to lower rental property yearly increases
I stand firmly in support of all immigrant communities in Maryland. I will work to prevent the creation of detention centers in our state. I will stand firmly against the federal government’s crackdown on hardworking communities. I will enforce the recently passed ban on law enforcement cooperation with ICE and DHS staff. Immigrants should feel safe in Maryland, and I will work to make that a reality.

Data centers can strengthen our economy, but also strain water systems and the power grid, while negatively impacting residential areas. I support them only when they meet strict requirements to pay for their impact on infrastructure, locate in appropriate areas, and holistically support our communities. Above all, residents should not pay to subsidize the costs of data centers.
Factors include new data center energy demands, aging infrastructure that requires replacement, and policies of PJM, the regional organization that manages electricity flow for 13 states including Maryland. We have passed legislation this session to reduce costs and we must accelerate alternative clean energy sources, as well as work to change counterproductive policies of PJM that hurt consumers.
Yes, the state needs to continue to invest in public transportation as it connects people to jobs, lowers time spent in traffic thereby increasing quality of life, and reduces greenhouse gases. Priorities are to expand rapid bus, regular bus, and rail service as well as invest in the maintenance of the aging infrastructure.
Affordability, education, and healthcare are my top three priorities as they impact short and long-term quality of life for Maryland families. I am a supporter of Maryland Blueprint for Education, have voted to use state funds to replace federal healthcare subsidies for the most vulnerable, and am working to reduce costs in several areas including housing, healthcare, childcare, utility bills, and prescription drugs.
Immigrants support Maryland’s economy, and it is important to provide pathways to education, jobs, and healthcare. I will continue to support funding for community-based services, including assistance with naturalization, instate tuition through the Maryland DREAM act, and prenatal and children’s health programs. Further, I support protecting law abiding and longtime community embedded immigrants, and especially childhood arrivals, from overzealous federal immigration policies in Maryland.
