I support the autonomy of local jurisdictions to make their own informed decisions. I am in full support of the data center study bill proposed by the 2026 legislature.
This is not my area of expertise. This is a very important issue for all Marylanders. I will continue to work with and support those who are working to address the issue.
Public transportation is not simply about being able to go to work and get to services. Adequate public transportation promotes the quality of life of residents and is an economic driver. It is important to improve public transportation throughout the State.
My budget priorities remain the same. Education, Health and Transportation
First and foremost ensure that our immigrant communities are safe and feel safe. Support pathways to citizenship.

AI is going to be a huge part of the future economy, and I am in support of things that will allow Maryland and Marylanders to be at the forefront of the technology BUT not at the cost of destroying the states natural resources, negatively affecting citizens health and driving up costs. Data is quickly becoming a new currency, but we must protect our people and make sure their voices are not only heard but acted on.
Nearly 40% of our state's electricity needs are met by imported power and we are a high usage state. We must increase in homegrown power generation and explore creative power solutions to reduce usage from our biggest consumers. We should also look to national and international power success stories like Batesville Arkansas with their solar program, which not only reduced their energy costs but put enough money back into their budget that they were able to fund raises for their teachers.
Yes, the state absolutely needs to be more connected through public transportation. Our traffic is the worst in the nation, which leads to increased costs for everyone. Higher insurance premiums, wasted gas from idling for hours in traffic, increased air and water pollution are things that we can address with a real commitment to public transportation.
The states budget should prioritize quality of life for its citizens and as such my biggest budget priorities are effectively resourcing our school systems, improving access to and the quality of our public health and finally public safety. Programs related to education, public health and safety will always have my focus as they are key to not only Maryland's present but its future.
Maryland should be a place where people seeking the American dream can feel safe and protected in doing so. Addressing barriers to naturalization and crafting campaigns to destigmatize immigrant communities are ways we can support and protect those populations.

I voted for HB270 which requires the conduction of an environmental and economic analysis of data center expansion to help guide zoning and energy decisions. I support data centers on the condition there is accountability that requires them to: pay the cost of the infrastructure needed to support their electricity demands; provide transparency on grid impacts and not strain it; and data center operators who will bring their own clean energy resources, contribute to the local economy benefits.
Higher energy costs are attributed to policies enacted at the national level, increased demands for energy and delays in creating new power online. National/regional solutions must be utilized to address the costs. I voted for HB1532, the Utility RELIEF Act that include priorities that protect ratepayers, ensure reliability as demand grows, advances clean energy, and preserve programs that reduce costs over time. EmPOWER programs will help reduce energy consumption & improve efficiency of homes.
The availability of public transportation significantly impacts Southern Maryland's economy, access and traffic. It's critical to be responsive to regional demands and to have current information as noted in HB386 where there will be an update of the state's formula for capital funding to WMATA. In addition, I support local SMRT funding to address transportation needs of Southern Marylanders and the continued fully funding of the Highway User Revenue formula at the current level in FY 27.
I will focus on supporting the reduction in spending growth without widespread tax increases, using moving/transferring funds from available resources to fill the gaps while stabilizing the General Fund, and supporting investments and economic growth. My priorities will include funding for: Education programs, Medicaid programs/services including viability of Developmental Disability programs, and sustaining opportunities for families through childcare programs that enhance/support workforce.
I voted for enactment of HB444 which put an end to voluntary agreements between local law enforcement and ICE. This emergency legislation offers protection against fed. agencies and promotes transparency, freedom from harassment & accountability for immigration enforcement. I support HB1017 - requires clear zoning rules for private detention facilities & HB 351 that requires digital unmasking of federal agents and will ensure recourse for Marylanders whose rights are violated by federal agents.
I am absolutely against building more data centers in Maryland. The meager economic benefits they bring are neither worth the cost to our rivers nor to our utility bills, and I support a full moratorium on their construction.
There are many reasons behind the steep increase in utility costs. While some of them are beyond our immediate control, like climate change and out-of-state data centers, one of the best ways that we can make long-term improvements would be to stop rewarding overspending and move towards a system that rewards utility companies based on their performance.
Yes. Public transportation like the Southern Maryland Rapid Transit project connects communities with each other, raises the economic performance of business areas nearby, and lowers commute times. The earlier it can be established, the better, as it allows maximum flexibility in development and surrounding construction. Over time, public transportation infrastructure investments pay for themselves many times over.
My top three budget priorities will be to target corporate tax avoidance to raise revenue (e.g. the LLC loophole, offshore profit-shifting), to protect our underfunded schools by fulfilling our obligations to the Maryland Blueprint program, and ultimately to push a fairer share of the state budget back to Charles County from what we pay to Annapolis. As things stand, we get less than 40 cents on the dollar for what we pay to the state, and that ought to change.
While the General Assembly did ban law enforcement from cooperating with ICE via 287(g) agreements, there are still nine counties which are doing everything they can to target immigrant communities and communicate with ICE to have them deported. I will push for specific legislation to be enacted to protect them, and to provide consequences as far as the law allows against this plainly racist federal agenda.
