I support data centers, but they must supply their own energy. I don’t support data centers using the vast majority of power , driving up the cost by depleting supply.
Simple supply and demand. Closing many power plants and not having supply alternatives up and running.
The cost seems to be too much in rural areas to be beneficial. I support it, but the cost must be weighed out.
I will vote for any thing that will help cut cost for the transportation, healthcare and education. I feel DDA funding should be restored.
I will help with visas. I will not help illegal immigrants unless that’s helping them get a visa.

Under strict regulations, I would support the establishment of additional data centers in Maryland. Driven primarily by cryptocurrency and AI, data center growth has had disastrous effects on energy consumption, land use, and more. Data centers should only be allowed if developers bring the energy (primarily through renewable generation/battery storage) & if the water use is through a closed system. Workers should be paid a prevailing wage. Projects should be State tiered and locally permitted.
Maryland imports 40% of its energy and is on a path to import 70% of its energy consumption in the next 25 years (ceteris paribus). Data centers need to bring their own energy if they want to exist in MD, but we will still be impacted by what happens on the PJM grid. I have bills ideas to address the energy crisis, including: greater SEIF allocation for solar and battery storage on the built environment; solar energy in highway medians; allowing balcony solar; and solar siting on state land.
We have a state that is designed largely for vehicles only. This is unacceptable and leaves a large degree of the population without access to public transportation – especially as growth has occurred outside the locally determined priority funding areas (PFAs) and that we have a population “aging in place.” We desperately need to comprehensively address public transportation and allow for greater multi-modal options as new infrastructure projects are developed.
Maryland shouldn’t balance the budget on the backs of prior commitments or on programs designed to comprehensively improve the lives of residents. I support policies that 1.) Improve the lives of people; 2.) Support a cleaner planet and thriving natural resources; and 3.) Protect and enhance democracy and democratic institutions. Dedicated funding (like Program Open Space and transfer tax conservation programs), disparity grants, and proven economic development funding should be protected.
Step one is to “do no harm.” While immigration policy is largely influenced by the ineffective federal government, Maryland needs to ensure that immigrants (and all residents) are respected, protected, and put on a path towards a stable future.
