I support strategically placed data centers after thorough evaluation and planning in regard to the effects on the environment and electrical grid. The costs associated with protecting the environment and generating electricity must be footed by the data center owners.
Utility costs are escalating because of the inability to sustain traditional energy infrastructure while transitioning to newer clean and renewable energy options. Instead, a staggered approach is required in which existing energy plants are maintained until newer options are capable of sufficiently supporting the growing demands of the grid on their own.
Public transportation is an essential state service; however, a comprehensive review of the current usage and safety of existing resources is warranted and should be conducted on a regular basis. Decisions in regard to reducing or increasing services and the need for repair projects versus new construction should be based on these reviews to ensure the highest return on investment.
Recurring out-of-control budget deficits due to irresponsible fiscal decisions are limiting the efficiency and effectiveness of government services in Maryland. My top priorities are adjusting the Blueprint for Education and its schedule to ensure its implementation without bankrupting the State, creating a statewide Inspector General to eliminate misappropriation of funds, and reforming procurement practices to streamline expenditures of budgeted funds.
While illegal immigration is a real problem that cannot be tolerated, legal immigrants are the lifeblood of our country and deserve our support. This includes providing needed educational resources to learn English, understand the law, and secure a job. Furthermore, I would advocate for enhanced outreach within immigrant communities focused on expectations regarding proper documentation and guidance for facilitating the legal immigration of family members.

Data Centers serve a variety of uses which are essential to support a flourishing economy. There is no doubt that they also impact the existing supply of water, power and land although with improvements in technology we will likely see less resource usage. Balancing these issues requires us to allow Data Centers in a careful and equitable manner, with constituent input, expert advice from conservationists, and energy experts.
Escalating utility costs stem from our grids being over capacity, outdated and relying primarily on fossil fuels. We must responsibly and gradually transition to renewable sources of energy and collectively look to reducing our carbon footprint through legislation. The Legislature can also provide financial incentives to alternative energy like subsidies to install renewable energy systems in homes and tax incentives to corporations using renewable sources of energy.
Public transportation is one of the most effective ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Maryland has lagged behind in this respect for too long. We must invest in public transit as well as longer distance public transportation in order to ensure a competitive work force.
My own experiences have convinced me that no other considerations can be advanced over health, availability of food and education. In balancing the budget these are the programs that I will fight for, even as I insist on transparency and accountability in how funds are used in these programs.
As an immigrant, educator and community advocate for minority communities, I see the need for language services to be expanded everywhere but especially in hospitals and government offices. Resources and programs for immigrants too often get unused because of the gap between existence and knowledge due to the language barrier. Immigrant communities should also be able to count on community spaces like libraries and schools to transition to American life.

I do support data center construction; however, before they are built, and dependable power generation source needs to be nearby. I do not support forcing people to sell their private property under Eminent Domain.
MD needs to loosen the regulations on power supply. Last year, MD legislature enacted laws and regulations that make it impossible for MD resident to purchase their power at competitive pricing. MD residents were forced into paying spot utility rates because of the legislation outlawing competitive supply. Five the power back to consumer!
Public transportation is important; however, I do not think North Baltimore County need more public transport.
Top priority is the get rid of the useless spending on politicians pet projects. There is so much waste in the Md budget.
Make sure legal immigrants are afforded the same opportunities as everyone else.
