Families are concerned about rising energy bills, water use, and land impacts tied to data centers. I support responsible development, with a bring your own energy approach where feasible to reduce strain on the grid. Just as important is transparency. Too many decisions have been made without public input, creating mistrust. Communities deserve a voice before projects move forward.
Families are feeling the pressure of rising utility bills right now. We need near term relief and long term reform. I support reducing the impact of programs like EmPOWER on monthly bills, reviewing environmental cost adders, and incentivizing faster completion of energy infrastructure. At the same time, we must better align policy to build a more reliable, affordable system.
Yes, but it must reflect how people live. Transit works well in dense areas, but rural and suburban communities need flexible options like regional routes and shuttles. The goal is access, not just expansion. We should invest in solutions that help people get to work and services efficiently without wasting taxpayer dollars.
Before we talk about spending more, we need to focus on how we are spending what we already have. Too often, decisions ignore long term cost. My priorities are oversight, cost containment, and program effectiveness. I will support workforce and career training tied to job placement, and infrastructure investments that show clear return, not spending without accountability.
It is important that immigration happens through legal pathways so there is clarity, fairness, and accountability in the system. At the same time, immigrants play a vital role in our communities and economy. The current process is complex and slow. While this is largely a federal issue, the state can support better outcomes through workforce access, legal assistance, and clear guidance so people can contribute.

I support carefully regulated and strategically placed additional data centers in Maryland, but only with strong safeguards to protect our environment, water resources, energy grid, and local communities. In District 29B and Southern Maryland, we value our natural landscapes, agricultural land, and reliable infrastructure. Data centers can create high-paying jobs and boost economic diversity, aligning with my priority of fostering resilient local economies through innovation. However, unchecked
Maryland's utility costs are rising due to imported energy, aging infrastructure, increased demand, clean energy mandates, and extreme weather. District 29B faces high transmission costs and limited competition. I will champion energy efficiency, weatherization, and expanded renewable energy (solar, offshore wind, storage) to diversify supply and stabilize prices. I support ratepayer protection, transparent rate-setting, and local clean energy incentives, emphasizing green jobs training.
I support expanding public transportation in underserved areas like District 29B. Reliable transit promotes equity and connects residents to essential services, reducing costs, easing traffic, and improving air quality. I will advocate for expanded bus services, better WMATA/MTA coordination, and increased local funding.
My top 3 budget priorities are: Education: Fully fund schools, increase teacher pay, expand mental health/special education, and boost career-technical programs (as a retired educator); Healthcare: Protect and expand Medicaid, behavioral health, elder care, and community supports; Economic growth: Invest in small businesses, workforce training, broadband, and resilient infrastructure, Prioritize people, fiscal responsibility, reasonable taxes, and balanced budgets.
Immigrants enrich Maryland's economy and communities, filling key roles in agriculture, hospitality, and defense sectors in Southern Maryland. I support humane, practical policies that honor contributions while upholding the law. I will advocate for: Pathways to legal status for long-term residents & DREAMers; Access to education, healthcare, & workforce training; Local resources: language services, legal aid, integration programs. As a lifelong educator, I know inclusive communities thrive.
