The citizens of Calvert County do not want data centers here. Our priorities should be to improve our infrastructure and to encourage small business development. Maryland and Calvert County won't benefit from greedy new corporate neighbors diverting our energy systems and contaminating our water supply. My opponent introduced a bill to prevent non -disclosure agreements between county commissioners and corporations, unfortunately this will not be enough to protect our county.
Energy from the sun is plentiful and easily harnessed, it also has an immediate effect on a homeowner's electric bill. Programs offered by the state of Maryland help homeowners reduce the cost of purchasing green energy. In addition, I will fight to bring property tax benefits to Calvert County homeowners who invest in green energy, as our neighboring counties Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties do. This isn't leftist or radical, it is simply smart use of our resources.
Public transportation options are limited in Calvert County. There are commuter buses that run to and from DC and a small county bus system for residents. As our county continues to grow, we must meet the need to expand the county bus system for citizens who rely on it to get around. This should be done with care to preserve the rural nature of our county and the environment and waterways that make Calvert County beautiful.
Veterans, the Maryland Blueprint for schools and tax incentives for green energy are my top priorities. The Maryland Blueprint for schools is too expensive, and right now, the citizens of Maryland and Calvert County are struggling with job loss, energy price hikes and rampant inflation. I agree with the governor's idea of cutting back and moving forward again once there is money to do so. I also want to fight for property tax incentives for veterans and home owners who invest in green energy.
Ensuring that U.S. citizens of Latino origin know the rights they are afforded under the U.S. Constitution is critical. It is illegal to make any arrest or detain any person without probable cause or a warrant signed by a judge. Persons who are following the law have the right to pursue citizenship. You also have the right to personal security, personal liberty and private property, that is the 4th Amendment. If you are threateaned, call ICE CASA de Maryland ICE Raids 888-214-601.
