The key questions are: At what cost and at whose cost? We should not expect residents to subsidize data centers as taxpayers nor as ratepayers for electricity and water. If data centers are being built in Maryland, they must be open about their plans, properly sited to prevent negative impacts on communities, generate their own clean energy, and fully mitigate their environmental impacts. Communities deserve full transparency with ongoing environmental health monitoring and accountability.
There are many factors leading to escalating utility costs, but the primary cause that we have the best ability to impact is that demand is skyrocketing, largely because of AI and data centers, while energy generation remains flat. The best way to address this issue is to incentivize power sources that can be built and operational in the shortest amount of time. In this regard, solar power is the most efficient option and should be a primary focus of our energy policy.
Yes, public transportation is a fundamental component of our transportation infrastructure. It is critically important not only to its riders but also to employers for their employees, to businesses for their customers, to drivers in their own cars who would face even more traffic congestion without public transportation, and to our environment. I am proud to support public transportation and look forward to making more progress on this important issue.
Education funding will continue to be a top priority. It is our most important investment not only in our youth, but also in the future of our workforce, economy, and democracy. We must also fund services and assistance to help our most vulnerable neighbors, especially as we work to protect Marylanders from the chaos and cruelty of the Trump Administration. Finally, we must ensure proper funding of critical state services, staffing, and infrastructure.
Immigrants are essential to our community and should feel self and welcome. I am committed to expanding immigrants’ access to opportunity and services and to protecting their rights. Fear makes immigrants particularly vulnerable to bad actors among employers, landlords, and predatory businesses. We must ensure that immigrants feel safe seeking enforcement whenever they are taken advantage of or are victims or witnesses of crime so they can report without fear for their own safety or status.

I support responsible data center development, but not at the expense of our communities. Projects must meet strict standards on energy use, water consumption, and land impact. We need transparency and proper planning so growth doesn’t strain our grid or raise costs for residents. Economic benefits should not come with long-term burdens on families.
Utility costs are rising due to multiple factors, including energy supply constraints, infrastructure costs, and decisions by grid operators like PJM. We need stronger oversight, more transparency in rate-setting, and investment in reliable, affordable energy. I will fight to protect ratepayers and ensure families are not unfairly burdened by rising costs.
Yes. Expanding public transportation is critical for economic opportunity, reducing congestion, and improving quality of life. We need more reliable and connected transit options across Maryland so people can get to work, school, and essential services safely and affordably, regardless of where they live.
My top priorities are education, affordable housing, and public safety. I will fight to fully fund our schools, expand access to housing, and invest in safe communities. We must also ensure fiscal responsibility by prioritizing programs that deliver real results and make government more efficient and accountable.
I will support policies that protect immigrant communities, expand access to resources, and ensure fair treatment under the law. That includes access to education, workforce opportunities, and legal protections. Strong, inclusive communities make Maryland stronger, and I will work to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
