I support the establishment of data centers in Maryland only for those who supply their own energy and water supply, and are located in areas of the state that do not cause environmental justice challenges or take prime land (preserved, farmland, and parks)
There are many factors contributing to escalating utility costs to include data center demands, high natural gas prices, capacity charges, transmission cost, distribution costs, clean energy projects backlogged in the PJM, and supply cost This past session supported HB1532, The Utility RELIEF Act of 2026, that addressed lowering costs, increasing supply, protecting ratepayers rising costs, and solidifying the commitment to clean energy goals.
Public transportation should be improved and available across the state to increase coordinated access to economic opportunities across the state. I fully support a statewide transit plan as well as strong local plans to move Marylanders around local communities and throughout the state. A statewide plan can support meeting state environmental goals such as reducing deducing 21% of greenhouse gases, traffic congestion, and health challenges caused by emissions from cars.
My top three budget priorities are 1) education, 2) healthcare, and 3) transportation. The programs and services I continue to fight for are the BluePrint to continue our efforts for a high quality worldclass education for youth; easy healthcare access and affordability to include enrolling more Marylanders on the exchange and funding Medicaid; and working to fund and move forward the redline - Bus Rapid Transit - in the City.
Immigrants are an important part of our communities in Maryland and make up the fabric of our country. As an American, 1st generation, I will continue supporting legislation to protect immigrants to include educational supports, legal due process, healthcare coverage allowances, safety protections including funding for legal supports and representation, protections against aggressive ICE officers, and working with immigrant organizations to ensure resources.

I do not and am proud of the legislation (the Utility RELIEF Act) that we passed to ensure that the costs of data centers are not paid by ratepayers.
The primary drivers for BG&E customers are capital infrastructure spending and multi-year rate-setting by the utilities with insufficient regulatory oversight, combined with an aging distribution system and extreme weather. We have passed major pieces of legislation in the past two session that have addressed these challenges, and we have more to do.
Absolutely and especially in the Baltimore region. The inadequacy of Baltimore's public transit is a tragedy.
Education, public transit and health care.
I am on the Judiciary Committee, and we have passed major pieces of legislation this session and last to protect our immigrant neighbors.
