I strongly oppose construction of new AI data centers. Recent reports in Forbes and Harvard Science Review, among others, document how these data centers pollute nearby communities, excessively consume otherwise drinkable/potable water, and rely on a global ecosystem of labor exploitation that primarily impacts vulnerable and marginalized workers. Lower-income communities and communities of color are especially vulnerable to these environmental harms.
Construction of new data centers, inflation, and the impacts of climate change have all contributed to higher utility costs. I support public utility management, energy price caps for low- and middle-income families, more robust utility payment assistance programs, a construction moratorium on new data centers, and increased wages (including an increased minimum wage) as measures that will all slow down these utility cost increases and improve people’s financial wellbeing.
We need much more funding to improve access to public transportation across the state. Accessible and affordable public transportation connects people living in all types of communities from rural to urban and everywhere in between, increases access to educational and economic opportunity, and makes it possible for everyone to have greater dignity, safety, and freedom of movement within Maryland and to neighboring states and Washington DC.
Education, health care, and housing. All Marylanders deserve high quality, robust educational options from preschool to higher education and vocational training. We deserve affordable, accessible, and culturally responsive healthcare, including access to fully funded long-term services and care for elderly and disabled people through Medicaid. And we deserve affordable housing, strong protections against eviction and unaffordable rent hikes, and access to rental and homebuyers’ assistance.
As a Chinese American born outside the United States, immigration is very personal for me. I support housing, labor, and health care protection for all immigrants as part of Maryland’s communities, and support for immigrants in Maryland public schools, community colleges, and public universities. I oppose any cooperation between cities, counties, and the state with ICE’s mass deportation agenda, including shared resources, data, and facilities.

Maryland agencies already require zoning approvals, environmental permits, and grid reliability reviews, but many experts argue that stronger oversight and planning are needed to ensure residents do not bear the cost of infrastructure and environmental impacts. Maryland should welcome data centers, but only under a responsible and sustainable development policy that protects residents, the environment, and the power grid while still encouraging economic growth and innovation.
Escalating utility costs in Maryland are driven by several key factors, including aging energy infrastructure, increased demand from large-scale developments. In addition, extreme weather, fuel price volatility, and the transition to cleaner energy sources. As a policymaker, my priority is to protect Maryland families and small businesses from rising utility costs while ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy system. My goal is to build an energy system that is reliable, environmentally.
Public transportation is not just about mobility—it is about opportunity, economic growth, and quality of life. As a policymaker, I support smart investments in public transportation that are efficient, equitable, and community-focused. This includes expanding transit access in underserved areas, improving reliability and safety, supporting environmentally friendly transit systems, and ensuring state funding is used responsibly to deliver real benefits to residents.
a policymaker, I understand that Maryland must balance its budget every year while still meeting the needs of working families, students, seniors, and small businessesI will prioritize smart spending that strengthens essential public services while ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and transparently. 1. Education and Workforce Development 2. Affordable Utilities, Infrastructure, and Transportation 3. Healthcare and Community Support Programs.
As a policymaker, I strongly believe that immigrants are a vital part of Maryland’s social, cultural, and economic strength. Immigrant families contribute to our workforce, open small businesses, pay taxes, and enrich our communities. I will stand against discrimination and support policies that protect civil rights and human dignity. Maryland should continue to Protecting immigrant workers, supporting families, and promoting equal opportunity strengthens the entire state.

Data centers can bring jobs and investment, but they must not drive up utility bills or strain our power grid and water supply. Growth should benefit communities, not burden them. New facilities should provide their own power and meet strong standards. Most importantly, local communities, not Annapolis, should decide where data centers are located.
Maryland families are struggling with rising utility bills. Too much of the cost comes from mandates, surcharges, and policies that have reduced reliable power generation while increasing dependence on imports. Maryland should focus on producing affordable, reliable energy here at home, reducing unnecessary mandates, and putting ratepayers first.
Transportation policy should reflect how Marylanders actually travel. Most families rely on their cars every day, yet a large share of gas and vehicle taxes is diverted away from roads and bridges. Our priority should be safe roads, reduced congestion, and rebuilding the Key Bridge, while ensuring transportation dollars serve the taxpayers who pay for them.
Maryland’s budget has grown dramatically, yet taxpayers are paying more while facing growing deficits. The government should follow the same principle families do: live within its means. My priorities are restoring fiscal discipline, controlling spending, and protecting taxpayers from additional tax increases so Maryland remains affordable for families and seniors.
America has always welcomed immigrants who come legally, work hard, and pursue the American Dream. Legal immigration strengthens our communities. Supporting this, we must also respect the rule of law. That means securing the border, enforcing immigration laws, and ensuring those who commit crimes who are here illegally are removed while supporting those who follow the legal process.

No, I don't believe the benefit is worth damaging the water supply or messing up the land, If it could be done with minimal impact on the water and the land then I would reconsider.
The greedy Billionaires are the reason. I would charge them more taxes the more profit they make. I would give tax breaks the less money they make to encourage them to keep prices lower. The top of the company has way to many high priced executives and taxing the company the more profit they make may encourage them to keep costs down.
Mass transit in Maryland in General is not as good as other states and cities. Buses are not the answer, Light Rail or a monorail type system would be a better route, but funding is the big issue. Giving tax breaks to a company or companies to build a system of this nature in key areas in the state may encourage a company to build this with minimal tax payer dollars.
During this administration compensating for the loss of health care and feeding low income people would be first, then Education followed by infrastructure improvements not funded by the Biden administration. Education would be the one that I would fight for. The better educated the students are the more positive impact they will have on our communities.
I work with many fine immigrants, more assistance with getting citizenship would help. I have seen them taken advantage of for cheap labor. Getting green cards, so they can work and have more rights so they are not exploited would help them immensely. Free English classes would be of value to help them in selecting a job to feed their families. ICE protection under the way the agency is run now is needed. When it goes back in two years then this won't be as important.

Data centers can create jobs, but they also risk higher utility bills, water shortages, and a more unstable grid for Maryland families. Virginia’s data-center boom is driving massive, unpopular power line projects in Maryland that I strongly oppose. I cosponsored HB120 to require new data centers to generate power on-site so they don’t strain our grid or raise rates. Local communities, not Annapolis, should decide where they locate.
Maryland families are being crushed by high gas and electricity bills after Liberals pushed radical green-energy mandates and shut down reliable power plants. Nearly 30% of your bill comes from hidden taxes, fees, and mandates. Maryland already imports about 40% of its electricity, and that could reach 80%. It’s time to lower energy costs and put family budgets first. As a member of the Maryland Freedom Caucus, our 4-point plan will bring down your BGE bill immediately and in the future.
Should we blindly expand public transit across Maryland? No. Fewer than 8% of Marylanders use it, yet nearly 65% of our gas and vehicle taxes go to mass transit instead of roads. The people paying the bills deserve safe roads and bridges. It’s time to prioritize road repairs and rebuild the Key Bridge. The liberal leadership's war on drivers has increased our registration, title, and emissions fees, as well as increased the tax on buying a car. They are making Maryland unaffordable.
MD's budget is almost $71 billion, after exploding in recent years. The governor inherited a $5 billion surplus and turned it into a $3 billion structural deficit while passing more taxes and fees than any administration in MD history. My priorities are restoring fiscal discipline, cutting spending, and protecting taxpayers. I will oppose all new taxes and fees and make the government live within its means. Taxes have made MD unaffordable, and people are moving away, especially our seniors.
America has always welcomed immigrants who follow the law and pursue the American Dream. It's part of the fabric of American exceptionalism. But under the previous Democrat admin, the border was thrown open, allowing millions of unvetted illegal immigrants, including criminals, into the country. Criminal illegal immigrants must be deported, and local law enforcement should cooperate with ICE. It’s wrong to let lawbreakers cut ahead of those who have been waiting years to immigrate legally.
