I support special elections because it gives voters a direct voice in selecting their representatives. However, they can be costly. That is why a strong Central Committee is important- to act responsibly and represent the best interests of the party’s voters when vacancies occur.
I would support a candidate who has experience working with individuals and organizations that reflect the needs, values and priorities and who demonstrates a clear understanding of the needs and interests of the residents they seek to represent.
I would like to serve on the Central Committee to help ensure our district is represented by qualified leaders if a vacancy occurs. I am committed to educating residents about our party, encouraging civic engagement and motivating community members to volunteer and support strong candidates in every election.
I will ensure my appointment decisions serve the community’s best interests by promoting, transparency and accountability. I plan to hold regular meetings between the appointed candidate and community residents so concerns, issues and priorities can be shared, ensuring the appointee remains responsive to the people they represent.

Yes. I support special elections to fill General Assembly vacancies whenever practical. I define “practical” as relating to the timeliness and frequency at which special elections are conducted: they are expensive processes that demand a lot of material. Appointments may sometimes be necessary for timing or continuity, but they should be temporary and transparent, with a clear path for voters to decide at the ballot box.
I would look for qualifications, knowledge of the district, demonstrated commitment to public service, and experience outside of politics (nonprofit sector, etc.). I believe this setup would best set us up for a varied, rich set of candidates (and appointees). My goal would be to select someone prepared to serve effectively and represent the community faithfully.
I want to serve on my party’s Central Committee to help strengthen local civic engagement, ensure our party remains connected to the people it serves (and vice versa), and build coalitions with a varied set of interest groups. I believe leadership should be responsive, community-centered, and forward-facing, and I want to help build trust and participation at the local level.
To ensure that appointment decisions reflect the best interests of the community, I would employ a transparent and merit-based process grounded in fairness, accountability, and public trust. Candidates would be evaluated on their qualifications, ethical standards, record of service, and understanding of community needs, with the goal of selecting individuals capable of effective and responsible representation.
