Yes, I support voters participating in the election process. What the Central Committee does is important work, but giving the community the opportunity to help choose their representative only builds stronger governance, increases accountability, and helps everyone trust the process.
I would look for someone who has integrity, who is invested in the district, and already doing meaningful work in the community. I'd want someone who listens to residents, understands the real issues impacting people, and is willing to show up and work for the district.
I'm married to a veteran, I'm a mom, a small business owner, and a community leader, I already serve in many ways, but I'm also impacted by the same decisions that affect other families and local organizations. I want to help improve the connection between the people of District 23 and those elected to represent us.
By really evaluating who has been consistent, who does what they say they will do, and who truly shows up for the community. That means looking at a candidate’s record, listening to community input, and making decisions with the best interest of the district in mind.

Special elections can be costly, in some cases exceeding $1.3 million, and require significant time and resources from election officials. Vacancies also create an immediate need for representation. The Central Committee process allows the party chosen by voters to recommend a successor, maintaining continuity of representation until the next election while ensuring the district remains represented without unnecessary delay.
The Central Committee has a long established process which includes public notice of a vacancy, submission of applications and a public review process which I will adhere to. In addition I will meet with the candidates and review their information for community engagement and commitment.
I am running for the Democratic Central Committee because I have a deep passion for the Democratic Party and for helping elect Democrats who will serve our communities well. I believe in educating and registering voters, strengthening civic participation, and building a strong Democratic pipeline by encouraging young people to become engaged in the political process.
I don’t believe there is any way for anyone to ensure that, but I will review their backgrounds and vet them as best possible.
No. Special elections can be costly for taxpayers and time-consuming for what is often a short-term vacancy. The Democratic Central Committee, in consultation with district leaders and community stakeholders, is well positioned to identify qualified candidates with integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to public service, ensuring residents continue to have strong representation without burdensome expenses to taxpayers.
I will evaluate candidates based on integrity, professional experience, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to public service. The individual should understand the needs of residents, work collaboratively with colleagues, and be prepared to advocate effectively for Marylanders. Most importantly, the individual must demonstrate a clear commitment to serving residents and advocating effectively on their behalf from day one.
Strong communities depend on an informed and engaged electorate. As a mother of three and a longtime public servant, I care deeply about Prince George’s County and want to help ensure residents understand their government, laws, and the roles of elected officials so they can better navigate misinformation and feel empowered to participate in the democratic process. I want to serve on the Democratic Central Committee to support year-round voter education, registration, and civic engagement.
I will follow a thoughtful and collaborative process by consulting with colleagues, listening to residents, and carefully evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, values, experience, and commitment to public service. My decisions will be guided by integrity, transparency, and a focus on selecting individuals who understand the needs of their constituents and will advocate effectively for their community.

To save taxpayer money, I support filling vacancies at the next Gubernatorial election, as special elections can be costly, unexpected expenses and keeps the power of choosing representatives in the hands of voters.
To start, it’s important to look at local community involvement. If candidates have already held public office, I would consider how responsive their constituent services have been, whether their voting record showed they prioritized the requests of residents, how they have managed their budgets, and what kinds of donations they have received in campaign funds. This provides a solid cross-section of who candidates would be accountable to. Likewise, resident input must be included.
I would like to serve on my party’s Central Committee to address low voter turnout and to help to fill vacancies with appropriately vetted nominees. By encouraging residents to become involved in events and organizations, the everyday person becomes a natural part of the democratic process from a grassroots level, thereby increasing turnout. For vacancies, I would emphasize collecting resident input in order to have a say in choosing their representatives.
Considering sources of campaign funding and planning decisions for development in their communities, reviewing the quality and responsiveness of sponsored and supported legislation to resident needs, and ground-level community involvement and communication, are the best predictors of the kind of representation a candidate can provide their community in the future.
