The person I believe best reflects the positions of their future constituents and with the temperament needed to be effective in the job.
I have proven my commitment to advancing the Democratic Party's values of fairness, equity, and justice. I have also proven my commitment to the Party's goals of better outreach, messaging, and helping elect Democratic candidates.
I would confer with members of the public to ensure I am best representing their interests in any vote for an appointee I may cast.

Central Committee members are elected by their party's voters to govern and conduct business, including filling vacancies, one of the Committee's prominent actions. I want the Committee to retain that authority, so I don't favor a special election generally for expense and other reasons. However, I am potentially open to a special election per the current proposed legislation. It still permits the Committee to make the initial recommendation, and the cost could be absorbed at minimal cost.
I would consider several things, such as a person's background, work or life experience, understanding of the role, skills, values, diverse vision and perspectives, local ties, plans to help their community, how they did in the interview, and any other important factors.
Serving others is one of my core values, and I am politically passionate. An America that belongs to everyone does not happen by chance; it takes speaking up and getting involved. I believe the Democratic Party works to uplift all. The current president and Republican/MAGA extremists jeopardize those ideals. I am committed to building a strong party, encouraging voter participation, and getting Democrats elected who will protect our democracy, support students, and help our communities succeed.
Whether filling a general assembly vacancy, a Central Committee vacancy, or a vacancy on a board or commission, I can hopefully ensure my decision best serves the community's interests by following the criteria I outlined in question 2 and through thorough discussions with the other Committee members.

Democracy depends on responding to the people’s voices as soon as possible, and so I support special elections whenever it is practical and practicable to hold them.
Should I be called upon to select a person to fill a vacancy in the Maryland General Assembly, I will look for a candidate who puts the people first, and who leads with ethics, character, and honesty.
Democracy is a participatory sport for all Americans, and I choose to participate.
Character counts. I am most interested in finding people of character, no matter their background, who will advocate for all of Maryland’s citizens—even the ones with whom they might disagree on particular issues.
