Yes. Appointments without public consent often invite the wrong kind of discourse—one centered on political favors rather than community action. While healthy debate is vital, it must be rooted in the will of the people. Special elections ensure every resident has a voice and that no candidate holds a seat without the public’s fervent support. I believe leadership should be earned at the polls, ensuring our representatives are beholden only to the neighbors they serve.
My goal is to ensure leaders are beholden to voters, not corporate interests. Any candidate I back must have a clear public record of prioritizing the community over lobbyists. If an appointment is necessary, I will only select a representative committed to balancing bold economic growth with the sustainable infrastructure needed to support it. My goal is a General Assembly that serves people, grounded in a history of proven, community-focused action.
I’m running because I’ve watched leaders prioritize political favors over the actual needs of the people they represent. Too often, we see records of inaction or decisions that don't benefit our neighborhoods. As a member of this community, I want to look around and be proud of where we live. We need leaders beholden only to their constituents, not corporate interests. I will only support candidates with a proven history of putting our residents first and championing our collective future.
The best way to serve the community is to actually be in it. Too often, decisions are made behind closed doors within the same narrow circles. I am dedicated to stepping outside those bubbles to understand the diverse needs of all my constituents. To ensure an appointee truly represents us, I will prioritize candidates who are visible in our neighborhoods and whose public records prove they are beholden to the people’s interests, not just the well-connected few.

Experience , track record on issues along with qualifications are important to me.
I want to help find and support qualified democratics with honesty and integrity to hold positions.
Researching a candidates history, dedication and willingness to listen and be informed by the community.
I support special elections to fill these vacancies because it’s a fair approach that gives voters the right and opportunity to choose their own candidate. Also, special elections ensure equal justice, and it's by far more democratic.
There are several criteria that I believe are needed. The candidate’s alignment with the community’s values and needs. He/She must be able to represent the district's interests well. Secondly, their experience is very important- whether that’s in public service, advocacy, or their community engagement, and if they have volunteered for leadership roles or other duties of responsibility. The candidate’s integrity is vital, as is their ability to collaborate in a legislative environment.
I would like to serve on the Charles County Democratic Central Committee, because my desire is to advocate for District 1 community’s needs at a structural level. I am driven to make sure that every voice is heard, especially those that are often unheard, and to ensure that the Democratic Party’s policies reflect the real grassroots concerns of District 1 constituents. When the people of District 1, go to the polls, they will ACE it with HICKEY!
Advocate, Commitment and Experience!
Transparency and community engagement are paramount to me. I will actively seek input from the people of District 1, i.e., neighborhood groups, organizations, and concerned citizens, to understand their priorities. I will ensure that I collaborate with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences so that all parties' voices are heard in District 1.
