DUTIES: The Democratic Central Committee is responsible for leading and organizing the day-to-day operations of the local Democratic Party. The Committee recommends candidates to the Governor to fill vacancies in state and local offices when a member of the party resigns or dies in office. County Central Committees work with the State Central Committee, which in turn works with the national party.TERM: Four years, no term limit.SALARY: None.HOW ELECTED: : Eighteen (18) Democratic Central Committee members are elected by registered party members. Two (2) are elected countywide and four (4) from each County Commissioner District 1, 2, 3, and 4. No more than half of the members can be elected from the same gender – male, female, or non-binary. SPECIAL ELECTIONS: When a vacancy occurs in the General Assembly, the party Central Committee appoints someone to complete the rest of the term. Do you support special elections to fill these vacancies?

The process to fill a vacancy lies with the Central Committee. Special Elections are very costly - often times for a very short period of time. I would welcome to hear from someone on the other side of the issue, but as it stands, I would say the central committee should do the most important duty they are assigned.
We filled a seat when I was on the DCC. I would look for someone who is up to date on the issues and willing to listen to their potential constituents to get a well rounded idea of the issues facing our community.
As noted, I have served of the Committee before. We are in perilous times and we need a strong Party to support the voters of Charles county and Maryland.
I have served on the committee to review candidates in my last term. We need to make sure that we have qualified, ethical candidates to serve the Party,

No absolutely not . Many times unqualified people get into these important positions by appointments or favors, it must be the will of the people . Also no central committee member should be chairman when they have a spouse who's elected or running for office as is the current situation in Charles County . Every Democrat must be given a fair opportunity for the voters to decide .State party must not falsely remove elected members of local central committees with due process an attorney .
The same that is required to apply and to be approved by the state and local election board .

I can ensure it , that's why I'm in favor of special elections , fair elections , campaign finance reform , public funded campaigns , and transparency .
